Deal Details

Hello SlickDealers:

I didn't see this posted, BUT, I'm sharing because I think this is great for those who just can't let a home phone go and still want pre-paid convenience!

ClickMe! [straighttalk.com]

I know some of you are going to Thumbs Down this deal because of the upfront cost -- but it's worth sharing with someone in my opinion.

I don't have a link to proof-- but I believe this will run on Verizon's network. Verizon has a device that looks just like this but in their flavor AND with a 2 year contract.

You buy the "Wireless" Home Phone gateway for $99.99 and is $15/ for 30 days of UNLIMITED home phone service for local and long distance!

If it really runs off Verizon, you could use this service wherever Verizon works in your area as a home based market. Its compatible with your existing home phone (Corded and Cordless) and for $15 monthly, you can't go wrong if you're trying to keep a home phone WITHOUT broadband internet!

OR, pay $30 a month and get UNLIMITED INTERNATIONAL calls to a set list of countries!

Please share your feedback. It's available starting 09/21/2012. look around

For people that care about 911 services. Based on information from Straight Talk....

In the event of an emergency call to 911, you must be prepared to provide your address and exact location inside the premises as the 911 call center will NOT have your physical address and may not be able to determine your location.

Use this Wiki to share valuable info like FAQ's and more.

List of International Countries included in $30/month plan (thanks bootymaster):

Argentina Germany New Zealand
Brazil Greece Peru
Canada Hong Kong Poland
Canada Cellular Hungary Portugal
Chile India Romania
China India Cellular Russia
China Cellular Ireland Singapore
Colombia Israel Spain
Costa Rica Italy Sweden
Croatia Korea- Republic of Taiwan
Cyprus- Republic of Malaysia Thailand
Denmark Mexico United Kingdom
Dominican Republic Mexico Cellular Venezuela
France Netherlands

Full country List [straighttalk.com]

It is similar/same to Verizon's Home Wireless service
http://www.verizonwireless.com/ho...nect.shtml

StraightTalk is an MVNO [wikipedia.org] that partners with AT&T, T-mobile, Verizon, and Sprint. Some of their devices operate on GSM networks and some on CDMA networks. With their phones you can typically differentiate this by the presence of a "G" or a "C" in the phone name. It is unknown whether this adapter uses GSM or CDMA.

The odds of successfully using this device with a fax machine or alarm system are pretty low. Using these with voip is spotty but with this device it is practically guaranteed to fail.

we do... keep the number we have had forever as a home phone number... and also our home alarm is routed through the home phone line... so I think for some people in some situations it might be worth it...

I agree, but some people would say that since it runs on a cellular network, no internet is required.

I guess for the most part if you can power it from your car you can make it a car phone too. shake head

Just curious. My inlaws currently have At&t and I think they pay about 35-40 bucks a month for their home phone. This would be a good buy if they can keep their current number. Anyone know if you can transfer your current number over?
My mother in law's birthday is coming up and this would be a good gift to save them some money in the long run, even if you have to pay the 99 bucks to start!
