Best deal I've seen for non-student, non-amazon mom account

You will qualify for and receive your statement credit if you purchase Amazon Prime with your Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card from 10/15/12 to 11/15/12. Please allow 2 weeks after qualifying for the statement credit to post to your account. Credit card product changes during the promotional period will forfeit this offer. To qualify for this offer, your account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. This promotional offer is non-transferable and applies only to the account ending in the last 4 digits referenced in this offer. Certain restrictions apply. To learn more about Amazon Prime, go to www.amazon.com/primeterms to see Prime Terms & Conditions.

For Amazon student members who lost their prime benefits (and who have the Amazon Visa as their primary card): Click "get started" then click "sign me up". It won't say anything about the $20 credit. On the next page you will see:
"Thank you for being an Amazon.com Rewards Visa Cardmember and now an Amazon Prime member.
You will receive your $20 statement credit two weeks after the membership fee posts to your card."

If for some reason you do not get the message about the $20 statement credit, you can cancel immediately and get a full refund

List of Kindle books available for free to Prime members is found here [amazon.com].

This only works if you add your amazon card as a default payment card. If you do so, you will get $19 student prime

-----
"This only works if you add your amazon card as a default payment card." <--- This statement is confusing. As long as you pay with your Chase Amazon Visa Card (Not the Amazon Store Card if you have one) you qualify for this offer. It is very simple, as soon as you click on the link and login to your amazon, the system will check if you have a Chase Amazon card. If you do, it won't say anything at first. If you don't it will display a message saying you are not eligible. If you have the Chase Amazon Card, make sure you pay the $79 subscription fee with your Chase Amazon. As soon as the payment is completed, the system will confirm that you will receive your statement credit in 2 weeks. It doesn't matter if your chase amazon card is default or not. It doesn't matter if you got the email or not. Your elegibilit is based on you having the chase amazon card registered to your account and making sure you use it to pay for your prime membership. gwmadrigal.

is this discount on the student price as well? cuz that'd be awesome
Yes it does! When I clicked through the offer, it automatically routed me to the Amazon Student sign-up page (my free year expired last summer). I clicked sign-up not knowing if that was the final menu and I got this message:
"Thank you for being an Amazon.com Rewards Visa Cardmember and now an Amazon Prime member.
You will receive your $20 statement credit two weeks after the membership fee posts to your card."

So Amazon Prime for $20 woot

when you say you "clicked through the offer", you mean you clicked the "get started" icon? i didn't see any special "offer icon" for example to click on...

I clicked through the link and clicked "GET STARTED" and immediately got this message at the top of the next page:

Unfortunately you are not eligible for this offer.
To qualify for this offer you had to purchase Amazon Prime with your Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card from 10/15/12 to 11/15/12.

so it sounds like you clicked submit (to pay $39) and when you got confirmation it THEN said $20 off?

if i try the same can i cancel and get my $39 refunded you think? (if i don't get the same $20 off)

edit: you've got nothing to lose by trying

We will refund your full membership fee if you cancel your Prime membership before you or your invitees have made any eligible purchases and before you have taken advantage of any Prime benefits, such as Prime instant videos or the Kindle Owners' Lending Library. You are not entitled to any refund if you cancel after you or your invitees have made any eligible purchases or after you have taken advantage of any Prime benefits.

EDIT.....it worked !!!! renewal of amazon student prime for $19!!!

Thank you for being an Amazon.com Rewards Visa Cardmember and now an Amazon Prime member.
You will receive your $20 statement credit two weeks after the membership fee posts to your card.

Amazon is scrambling, they're trying to make up for lost (sales tax related) sales.
We'll see in Q4 but I know I haven't bought anything since they started charging sales tax, even now I was thinking about "splitting" this with my dad but really with the extra ~9% I'm better off just getting stuff (the stuff I used to buy with prime like snacks/toiletries/etc.) locally.

I have the card but did not receive the email. I want confirmation that this works for those who didn't get the email. I can click "get started" but then button for $79 subscription appears which will be charged to the Amazon Visa.

I did NOT get the email offer but clicked through the link and got the statement about getting $20 off in the next two weeks..so you should be fine (I hope).

Sometimes before student prime expires they'll send an email asking if you want to renew for 39 dollars a year!(limited amount of time to respond) Of course I didn't go ahead and do that because I had other .edu emails to use from my other school Smilie

Wow, I pay full pop and more than make up the cost on a monthly basis. Then again we did just move into our first house, and we need EVERYTHING. Still, seems like a good deal.

Is the amazon card worth getting? Truth be told, I haven't looked into it yet.
