CANCELLATION POLICY UPDATE! CHECK YOUR EMAILS:

"It has been a very exciting six weeks since we relaunched, and we hope you've been enjoying your MoviePass as much as we've enjoyed creating it! We've received a ton of great customer feedback recently, and we've been taking comments into consideration as we continue to grow and expand. One of the main areas of feedback has been related to our cancellation policy and in an effort to provide a better user experience and a higher level of transparency, we have simplified things for you.

If you decide to cancel MoviePass within your first month of membership, you will be charged a cancellation fee of the difference between your monthly MoviePass rate and the total dollar amount of the movies you saw. If you're paying $30 dollars a month for MoviePass and you saw 5 movies at a cost of $10 each, you would pay a $20 cancellation fee. If your subscription fees are more then the cost of the tickets, you will be credited back the difference.

After your first month of membership, there will be a flat cancellation fee that is based on how long you have been a subscriber. The breakdown is as follows:

If account is cancelled within months 2 or 3, cancellation fees are $75
If account is cancelled within months 4, 5 or 6, cancellation fees are $60
If account is cancelled within months 7, 8 or 9, cancellation fees are $40
If account is cancelled within months 10 or 11, cancellation fees are $20

After your year long commitment, you will be able to cancel your MoviePass account at any time without cancellation fees.

We have a lot of things in store for MoviePass and your feedback has been invaluable. Our full terms and conditions may be viewed here; if you have any questions or feedback about this policy, or anything else MoviePass related, please reach out to our MoviePass Concierge via email at support@moviepass.com, live chat, or phone at (877) 646-2892."

Appears I can no longer checkin via mobile browser on my Android; its now telling me I must download the app from the play store
Yeah and the new update to the app was not checking in for me and I had to call them which was ok since I got there early since the dude on the phone was SLOW.

I may or may not have found a work around for IMAX 3D surcharges. I bought tickets at an AMC Theater earlier in the week but I told them I couldn't watch the movie so I got passes for a later date. I got two different ones: Re-Admit ticket and Guest Pass. My brother used the Re-Admit ticket at the service desk for Jurassic Park IMAX 3D and wasn't charged an extra fee. I bought a ticket for GI Joe and exchanged it and had to pay the difference, $6. I think it wouldn't have worked with the Guest Pass and this would work with the Re-Admit pass but I am not sure.

Applies ONLY to AMC Theaters:
I went in and got a pass for a different day and I asked the clerk about the difference between Re-admit and Guest passes and he said that the Re-admit passes allow customers to go into 3D/IMAX/IMAX3D without paying surcharges.

nah, movie pass pays for empty seats that will never sell, same with us, they probably just pay 5-10$ for every moviepass card they sell.

probably true, but i would think since the purchase is in the thousands everyday they might be getting discounted pricing, just like any business out there. let's say big box stores for example, costco would be able to sell cheaper items since they purchase from manufacturers directly. also they sell movie merchandise and marketing data which supplements their revenue.

one of the reason is that moviepass might have a bargaining chip in getting a better deal from theater companies, because it creates the illusion that going to the movies is cheap, so the moviepass holder might think its easier to buy food and drinks which will help with the theater's revenue.

but then i could be wrong hehe i should google it. its just that it's been half a year since i joined and moviepass is still in business so i think they're doing good. Wink

I'm really curious to hear about how they're doing.

They just started charging a $25 "initiation fee" when you sign up too.

yeah you have to get the app, for the phone.

i actually had to chat with a rep online about it, they said to get the app. or you can just call in, or just try the chat in their website to check you in, but its kinda bit of a drag everytime.

you can check in to get a movie ticket and just exchange it for a re-entry pass, i'm almost tempted to get another card get passes and sell the passes for 5$ each haha but i don't wanna ruin moviepass for everyone taking too much of an advantage so no i won't do it haha
