The "Go Big - use whenever" plan gives you megabytes that you can use whenever you want. If you don't use your megabytes, they will stay in your account as long as your account has not been cancelled or deactivated. You will only need to refill after your megabytes have been used up.

THE ZIP CODE CHECKER ON THE WALMART SITE NOW APPEARS TO BE WORKING - The correct Coverage map from INTERNET ON THE GO can be seen HERE, they use the Sprint network http://www.internet-go.com/coverage/

Would something like this work well for the frequent traveler?

Seems idea instead of signing on at the expensive airport of if hotel doesn't have free wifi.

Will Sprint converting to LTE affect this down the road? (i.e., my hotspot will totally be useless)

How do I get the 4GB for $45?
This work ONLY on 3G network. So doesn't really matter what happen to their 4G network at all.

http://support.internet-go.com/Kn...oad-speeds

Download and upload speeds
--- average download speeds will range from 600-1400 Kbps, peaking at 3.1 Mbps and average upload speeds will range from 350-500 Kbps, peaking at 1.8 Mbps.

From what I read in the other wireless carrier threads, many SDers complain about Sprint data speed. Seems like many SDers are getting below the average speed their website mentioned above.

The MiFi is a 3g device.

If you're an occasional user this is ok. And a decent deal. For example. I have my mom using a Virgin Mobile Mifi when she is at her snowbird nest in Arizona since she doesn't have an internet connection there. I buy her a $20 card (500mb grandfathered plan) and it seems to last her a few weeks of email, surfing, etc. But I'm going to check this out, as I like the idea of no expiration. But $80 for that device is a bit steep. The Mifi on VM is going for cheap now ($30 on Amazon).
I, too, have the Virgin Mobile Mifi 2200. This particular device smells STRONGLY like it's simply a re-badged VM Mifi 2200 since the VM is also Sprint behind the scenes. I got mine as portable device to use when I needed to get to work whenever I needed to do so without having to pay a $60 contract fee every month for 2 years for a Sprint Mifi. Guess what? Turns out Virgin Mobile has GRE Protocol 47 [microsoft.com] blocked. You can't get onto a Microsoft VPN without GRE 47 so I can't use it to get onto my work network. This means its great for just surfing but if I want to use it to get onto work from non-wifi locations, I can't do so. It's essentially worthless for the core reason I bought it.

I'd be very careful getting this device as a cheap pay as you need to for "emergency" work access. It may not work "as desired" for you. If you just want it for playtime surfing so you don't have to use your phone as a hotspot, this will probably work fine for you.

This seems like a great deal but keep in mind that Sprint's 3g network in almost every city in america is slower than EDGE 2g. When I left sprint for t-mobile in June I was getting 100kbps tops from 8am to 11pm. During the dead of night 3g would zip up to 2 to 3mbit. This all started with the iphone so I had to bail.

After moving to t-mobile with my galaxy note N7000 I only get edge but it is actually faster than sprint 3g. And while I had a 4g phone on sprint before leaving 4g was pretty much useless because it chewed through battery in hours.

You have been warned folks!

In my area Sprint 3G is 50kbps till after midnight, then it's about 1Mbps. If it was on any other network it would be an ok deal. If it was GSM it would be even better. Thankfully ATT is still honoring the $30 unlimited data plan that you could get when the Ipad first came out, that sim has come in real handy, I'll enjoy it even more once LTE hits my area. My Ipad is long gone but that sim keeps going and going.

Sprint actually has pretty good coverage and in many cities they have fine speeds that are not too crowded. Just because you aren't in a great coverage area don't pretend to be some expert and tell everyone how it is all over the country.

I have traveled all over the east coast and southern U.S. using my Virgin Mobile phone, which runs on the Sprint network without roaming. I also use my phone daily for research so I am constantly on the net.

I run an average of 700kbps, running up and down from there. That is PERFECTLY FINE for browsing, email and watching the occasional video on Youtube or flash videos and providing data for Maps and other apps.

This is a BUDGET PLAN. If you want 10mbps to read CNN then go pay AT&T or Verizon $100+ per month, please go do it. If you want something budget to get you access and you don't need to use it on a regular basis this is an excellent deal. People need to stop trying to talk down these deals just because they can't cram their internet addicted life into it.

Uses for something like this:

People that travel a few times a year....
People that very rarely use internet and don't want monthly bills....
People that travel on short notice for business and need to use their phone as a phone and not a hotspot....
Anyone that doesn't mind paying a few bucks to have a reliable device around in case they ever need it....

If my phone weren't rooted for free hotspot then I would probably pick one of these up when they go on sale. 4GB will go a long way when you avoid the porn and videos.

But you have to pay every month right? Say you dont wanna use data for one month and next month when you wanna use it again, do you still get unlimited data?

Does anyone know if we can purchase a Sprint Wifi hotspot, e.g. VM Mobile and use it on Walmart's Internet on the Go plan?

Avg 30-180Kb/sec throughout the day in my area. It's a pretty good deal if you get decent Sprint coverage. I wonder if this deal was a result of the SoftBank cash infusion. It's kinda crazy after the 3B cash infusion, Sprint has been rapidly deploying upgrades to both 3G and 4G LTE in my area.

Dang. Those numbers aren't good. That's essentially dial-up speed.

Ah, that's right. Thanks. That FeedomPop thing is 4G WiMax (or whatever it's called).
