Perhaps you should come to NY and see how reality really is?
Or is badmouthing the norm for your kind?
What? And leave the anonymity and comfort of being behind a computer keyboard? Never!

Psst, andy, it is "badmouth" and not "bad mouth." I would never do this to people unless they do it to others and that only to give them a taste of their own medicine.

Bon appetit!

Some people never accept responsibility for their errors. You must be a liberal Obama-lover. Smilie

BTW: I checked and you are right about iPhone autocorrect. Now stop, ahem, badmouthing iPhone.

You figured me out! Smilie

Yeah it's annoying. Kind of like when you type "K" and it changes it to "I". Same with "U".

Actually TR it's bad-mouth. If you're going to correct someone to make a point, at least be correct yourself.

@ChristianM19, is anyone living outside the affected area allowed to comment?

Science is much more than a body of knowledge. It is a way of thinking. This is central to its success. Science invites us to let the facts in, even when they don't conform to our preconceptions.

Didn't you know? A reporter's typo that isn't caught by an editor is now the standard for correct usage of English.

There were many other instances from the same source. I would post them if I knew you were sincere, given that you simply ignored the Cambridge.com link.

But here is another one [ahdictionary.com].

Sigh.

did you read that article?
its talking about people preparing for the zombie apocalypse.
Quote :
Now, since Hurricane Sandy, terror course work has spiraled to flesh-devouring levels. Next month, REI camping gear in Framingham, Mass., offers a class in zombie avoidance.

"You learn valuable survival techniques that could save your life,'' reads the company's Web site. "These same techniques could be invaluable in the event of any natural disaster in an urban environment.''

Lest you think threat-mania is a commercial ploy, note that on Oct. 31, two days after Sandy struck, the HALO Corp. of California put on a national conference for law-enforcement types and first responders, partially funded by the Department of Homeland Security. It featured a workshop on, you guessed it, overcoming the zombie threat.

"We have to prepare for a mass chemical or biological attack,'' said Kit Lavell, executive vice president of Strategic Operations Inc., the Hollywood-affiliated firm that produced the flesh-chomping workshop. Such an attack "could produce serious medical and psychological effects, even mobility.'' That is, it could create actual zombies.
pretty sure the article is tongue-cheek...

Do you think it's the government's responsibility to restore the private power grid?

The military already flew in power line repair trucks from all over the nation.

According to ABC News reports, the power is available curbside, but they have to dry out all the houses' electrical systems before they can turn it on.

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the supply of gasoline was greatly disrupted.
Because gas stations were forbidden from raising their prices to meet the increased demand, miles-long lines developed and stations were forced to start limiting the amount of gasoline that individuals could purchase. New Jersey gas stations began to look like Soviet grocery stores.

Had gas stations been allowed to raise their prices to reflect the increased demand for gasoline, only those most in need of gasoline would have purchased gas, while everyone would have economized on their existing supply. But because prices remained lower than they should have been, no one sought to conserve gas.

With price controls in effect, supply shortages were exacerbated. If prices had been allowed to increase to market levels, the profit opportunity would have brought in new supplies from outside the region. As supplies increased, prices gradually would have decreased as supply and demand returned to equilibrium.

Governments fail to understand that prices are not just random numbers. Prices perform an important role in providing information, coordinating supply and demand, and enabling economic calculation. When government interferes with the price mechanism, economic calamity ensues.
