Typical prices for these cheaper units run about $30-$40. Higher quality units cost about twice as much.

Just FYI to all those who don't like reading instructions: Never touch a halogen bulb with your bare hand when installing.

Great price, excellent for remodeling work when you may have lights removed in that room and are running an extension cord from another.

No way this is FP...the stand is worth something, but 500w lamps are $10 pretty regularly. Not to mention the juice these things pull and the heat they put out. They are certainly convenient for some applications, but I'll stick to my fluorescent work lights unless I need to light up the entire back yard.laugh out loud

bouncebouncebounce ha-ha. this is not just a tripod, this is a tripod with the whole lighting system included. Set it up as slaves to use with your flash and you are all set

great price, OP. does $xx.88 mean it is a closeout in case of HD?

These are obsolete. Halogen lights are energy drains and dangerously hot.

I have a small single halogen that I use on jobs (read into this...not my electricity) and it works great but sometimes I need more and I was looking for something like this. My store showed 23 in stock on aisle 06. Went over there and couldn't find them. Not even the price tag on the display shelf or anything. They had the small one of the HDX version but not this one. I asked an employee and he checked and couldn't figure it out either.

So he gave me the Workforce with $15 off. I was thinking of asking for a discount on it anyway but I'm not going to argue. Cool

Tripod isn't the best and it is cheap...which I am sure the HDX is too...but it works well enough and the top part with the lights detaches just like the other one but is easier to disconnect with a slide in bracket. Worth the price I paid but not $36.

considering the options these Halogen are definitely a good price. Since the Fluorescent types cost around $149...
Also btw you can get the single HDX 500-Watt Portable Halogen Work Light for only $6.88
