No Google play after all apps are installed here. Since it is rooted you can always install whatever application with the SD card using a backup program like Titanium Backup . At least for those with little kids like me.

Also there are apps that will password protect Google Play and any other application you don't want opened without permission.
true. just saying. kids are crafty, i know because i was one Wink

How do I make the icons bigger?

I'll admit I'm an adroid noob. I have a blackberry that work provides and don't have a personal phone so I'm new to all this. I got one for my kids and was able to get google play/android market installed and several games and apps installed just fine (for those wondering about ebooks Aldiko seems to do the job for what I wanted). However all the icons are about the size of my pinky fingernail. I've tried a few different launchers, check a few boxes for big icons, adjusted the number of columns and rows but I can't seem to get big icons.

Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks
I had the same problem, and just got mine all set up with much bigger icons, text, etc. Steps:

1. I installed superuser and busybox to ensure I was completely rooted (may not be necessary)
2. Install Button Savior, which enables soft buttons for home, back, search, volume, etc.
3. Configure Button Savior to your liking
4. Install ROM ToolBox
5. In ROM Toolbox, go to Performance and then "build.prop Editor"
6. Scroll down to ro.sf.lcd_density, near the bottom. This number is set to 120 by default. Increase it to get bigger UI elements. I've landed at 200, which is likely too big for some people. Try 140 or 160 first.
7. You'll be prompted to reboot -- do it

Result: After the tablet reboots, you will see bigger UI elements, starting with the lock screen. You'll also see the System UI process stop. On my tablet it does this twice after every reboot, and then everything is normal after that. Finally, you'll notice that you've lost the home, back, menu buttons at the bottom of the screen. This is because your tablet is now in "phone mode" instead of "tablet mode". You can still use the hardware home and reboot buttons, and Button Savior (installed in step 2) gives you all the other buttons that you had and more.

I'm really happy with this configuration. Icons and text were way too small before, and they're great now. And I really like Button Savior buttons -- I find it really convenient to be able to bring out the buttons when I need them and hide them away when I don't.

Good luck!

Hi.

I bought this and it worked great the first day. I went to plug it in to charge that night and it went to a "A World Without Wires: Uniden" screen with a moving circling icon on it. It has stayed that way for a week. I have tried to push the reset button. Nothing seems to work.

Someone please help me.

Thank you!

I think your best bet is to try and exchange it at Big Lots, and if that's not an option, just return it and hold out for something with a bit more quality control.

Why not call Uniden and ask them for help?

I don't know why these types of things never work for me, but I'm trying to install Google Play and I'm following the directions in the second post. I copy the apk files to the "Download" folder but when I try to go to it on the tablet it simply says "No downloads". Is there some super secret place I have to save it so I can access it?

EDIT: Nevermind, just figured it out.

Sounds like you just clicked the "downloads" icon. Do this:

Open 'File Manager' which comes preinstalled on the tablet and navigate to the 'Download' folder in your home directory.

(just incase someone is having the same problem)

Likely a software issue? As long as it's powering up, you should be able to reinstall firmware. Firmware here:

If that doesn't work, then it must be a hardware issue, so return it to Big Lots.

Just installed some el cheapo screen protectors on my kids Unidens. The are listed at Biglots for Ipads.

I used the boss ladies scrapbook cutter to make the sheets the proper size. I split the front part of the case off and exposed the screen only and so the screen protector goes under the case when put back together. Hope that makes sense. It was very easy to split the case apart w/ just my thick thumbnail and all the little plastic clamps opened and then snapped back shut w/o breaking. My kids are loving there tablets!

HELP. Do any of you have a damaged tablet that still has a screen that is ok? My 7 year old dropped his, and one of the ribbon cables to the screen broke in half. It looks like if I could find a screen I could just replace it as there are connectors on the board.

Let me know.

TIA!!!!!!
