The Hamas Thread

Dear Hamas,

It's time for the Israelis to bomb your towns and cities until you surrender. You've fired nearly 1,000 rockets at Israeli civilians in the past two weeks, and you scream "War Crime!" after Israel bombed a single house. You guys have wanted war for decades, and it's time for you to get war, and deal with it until you're ready to accept peace.

I'm not exactly sure what I just ordered, but I think I'm pretty pleased about it if it's what it might be, but then again, I have no idea exactly what it is... but that's the nature of slickdeals.
Thanks OP! I think.

I wanna see Israel roll up in there with tanks and take them down in a day.

What people fail to realize is that if Israel gave Hamas everything they demanded Hamas would still continue firing rockets and killing innocent people.

you must be blind folded if you tell Israel does not kill civilians. It is Israel's routine to kill civilians.

Well, Mr. Nesan, answer me this: In the aftermath of firing 1,000 rockets at Israel, how can Israel militarily respond without any civilian casualties?

Which side really started this latest flair up? I see blame being assigned to both sides, but neither side is honest and repeatedly lies to promote their agenda.

Israel says the rockets started first. Gazans say it was precipitated by a bombing attack on a Hamas residence. Dontknow

Yes let me put my rockets next to schools and orphanages and then fire rockets at your civilian population and then cheer their deaths. When you retaliate and take out my rockets, you end up killing children because i installed my rockets next to schools. You evil, child killing bastard!

No, no, and no. Hana's most certainly began this rocket campaign. Israel targeted the military leader of Hamas adterward, and then the home of Hamas' chief rocket engineer. It was this second bombing which killed civilians, but I ask you: Isn't Israel entitled the right to defend itself?

Based on what completely reliable reporting?

You choose to believe Israel's version, and seem to ignore their history of lying about these things.

Aren't Palestinians entitled to return to the land they owned in what is now Israel?

Gazans are being held virtual prisoners by Israel.

It seems Israel knew where Hamas military leader and Hamas chief rocket engineer live. i am impressed. it seems Israel does not need to kill civilians then unless they are shielding, intentionally or unintentionally, the military leaders and fighters.

what Hamas should do is to move out of neighborhoods and move into military installations which are clearly labeled as such. and then launch a military strike against Israelis.

Nic, if you'd been reading the news reports of the past month, you would know what happened and when. It's very clear that Hamas began the violence.

Secondly, it is the clearly stated policy of Hamas that the only solution acceptable to Hamas is the complete destruction of the State of Israel. Unlike most West Bank Palesyinians, Hamas and most of the Gazans only accept the complete elimination if Israel.

Third, you do admit that Hamas has, in fact, fired many hundreds of rockets indiscriminately into Israel, right?

So you want Israel to give a big welcome hug to an entire group of people dedicated to their extermination? Perhaps you should ask someone more sympathetic to their plight what one does with a group like that [wikipedia.org].

But to answer the question, no. After 70 years of trying to annihilate Israel they have no such entitlement. Even Abbas agrees.

As I said, I have read differing accounts asserting that both Israel and Hamas initiated hostilities. I have no reason to believe one over the other, cause both sides lie about these things.

And I have no problem with a one state solution. I don't recognize the "right" of existence of a particular religious dominated government. To me, government should be secular, not giving special favors to patrons of a particular religion. The Jewish state was established by force and theft of land and is therefore less than legitimate.

Yes. But I've heard it was in retaliation for Israeli provocations after several years of relative peace. Not to mention being held virtual prisoners in Gaza.

As I said, I've not seen anything that convinces me which side is telling the truth about what started this most recent violence. I do know what started it in 1948.

Palestinians are not a monolithic people; despite what Israeli propaganda would have you believe. What I expect is that people whose land was stolen should get it back.

Don't really care what Abbas thinks.
