Thanks. I did do the rollback and did go to 4.7 (and the desktop graphics stayed at 4.7, which then sets the "overall" score. The 4.6, I think was leftover from a Nov. assessment, but we'll see if it sticks around.).

I'd still love to hear from the dude who went up to 5.whatever after the driver update).

I'm going to do the latest Windows update (the rollback blew those out), then set another restore point. Then I might try the new drivers again just for fun.

UPDATE
: after running the latest Windows update, my score dropped to 4.6. So I guess we'll blame Windows update for that drop (which I realize is likely just a change in the way something got measured, not an actual drop in performance. So I probably will try the new drivers (again).
Yea that bugs me too, always hate to see a drop, so I use novabench or other apps to benchmark instead. The guy that had a big bump in score also did a RAM upgrade, so I am hoping to see that when I put mine in.

Popped the 8GB stick in, works great.

I can post post novabench benchmark improvements if anyone is curious let me know.

Here they are:
RAM score 127->214
Graphics score 37->63
(3dframes/sec 127->206)

Thats a 62% bump in direct graphic performance. Smilie

Not plugged in so I didnt run Windows bench yet.

Looks like the touchscreen for mine has stopped working, I've restored/reinstalled the entire OS thinking it was due to some update but nothing, still does not work even with back to factory default settings.

Gonna call Asus's support to see whats next, I think its' gonna end up going for warranty repairs because it's out of the return policy period with microsoft.

Got my replacement /exchange from Microsoft yesterday. I sent it back to them because of raised touchpad. So far this one checks out okay.
My other touchscreen works fine.(i had purchased two) so for now it looks like slickdeal on two laptops.
has anyone noticed that microsoft has lowered its price to 649.00 on the website?

Called support, they created a RMA to send it back, I told them it was just a month old so the guy expedited the service from 7-14 days to 5-7 days or so he said!!!! I hope it doesn't take longer cuz it usually does with these kinds of things

FWIW, MS has an extended return period -- through the end of the month -- for these. I'm not sure what that means as far as warranty is concerned. Though it seems to me that if they'd normally do instore warranty for 30 days or whatever then they should do the same for the extended period.

I've noticed that they've wiped all mention of this from their website (and unfortunately, my receipt only links to the return policy which they've now updated, but this is what it used to say:

Extended Holiday Return / Exchange Policy

Holiday gift purchases made between November 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012 qualify for an extended return period as follows:
Products, subscriptions and services (except for Mobile Phones and related products) that would otherwise be eligible for return or exchange within thirty (30) days from the date of purchase will instead be eligible for return or exchange until January 31, 2013.

Yes I do remember reading that, THANK YOU!! I will ask MS Store to send me a replacement, however everytime I have tried to contact them they have refused to help saying I'm past the 30 days and they can't do anything.

Okay talked to Microsoft's Signature support finally and they have created a return label for me, and will be sending in a replacement laptop as soon as I ship this back. Thank god. Didn't wanna deal with warranty repairs within a month of purchase.

Sweet. That's great news. I'm still trying to decide if I can used to my half-working spacebar. If I can get them to swap another easily that would be great.

Hi
People who find the trackpad a pain, please uninstall ASUS smart gesture and install the Elantech driver from Asus which is down below.. Works much better and precise than the gesture.. Also, I went into the zip folder and only installed the 64 bit version and not x86

http://support.asus.com/Download....hpad&os=30
Does this come up for you with Asus Smart Gesture branding?
