In just about every guide I've read on how to clean an LCD screen or the like, paper towels are specifically listed as 'do not use'...I'd guess they're coarse enough to scratch. Maybe the instructions are overly cautious, but safe than sorry seems reasonable here. I'd probably use a very mild blend of dish soap and water over rubbing alcohol, but perhaps you're going for the 'nuke and pave' cleaning approach.
