iMito MX1 and MX2 Owner's Thread

APhamX 529 December 11, 2012 at 07:00 PM in Computers (3)
So many people have purchased the MX1 and MX2 android stick devices and I was planning on starting a thread with helping people with their new devices. Also I plan on showing you guys cool things I find and you guys can post things in the wiki for things you found as well. I will try to update this, but I'm hoping it will be run by a community like the HP Touchpad thread.

I currently own an iMito MX2
- Using K400 Logitech Mouse/Keyboard
- Wireless N With WPA/WPA2 (Works flawlessly, no connection issues so far)
- 1080p60

I'm currently still looking for a way to easily navigate it as like an htpc, maybe there's an app or firmware out there that is meant for this.

Installing Flash On Your iMito NO ROOTING REQUIRED

There are APK's of past dolphin browser APK's that allow flash that you can look into. (I haven't personally tested this myself)

Flash APK [xda-developers.com]

Firefox Beta [google.com]

Dolphin Browser HD APK [xda-developers.com]
Other Cool Apps

Nova Launcher
Music Visualizer

FAQ

Q: How do I set the device resolution?
You have to click on the top thing on the right, go to settings, and scroll to screen. On the right it will show you HDMI OUTPUT, there select your output resolution.

Mine just died as well. What a POS waste of money!
Direct from China stuff usually comes with crappy power supplies. Test it with a different one with around 2A rating. If you have a tablet, those usually have beefier USB chargers that will probably work well.

My MX1 has only been in service a week or so. But I tossed the provided power supply in the garbage when I unpacked it. I have a couple spare HP Touchpad chargers (2A) and decided to use that instead. I'm hoping that will extend the life of my MX1. Though truthfully, its just kind of a novelty and probably won't get a ton of use. I only paid 48 bucks for it and its fun to tinker with, but my Rokus are just vastly simpler to use for the family. I'm in the process of hooking it up to my motorola lapdock just for kicks. It aint pretty, but its cool.

On a positive note, the wifi signal has been great, I expected it to be bad. router in the basement and MX1 anywhere on the first floor and I'm getting a good signal. I downloaded the finless ROM prior to getting the MX1, fully intending to install it, but so far I just haven't seen the need. I did buy it to tinker, so I'll sure I'll still give it a try...

Great thread. I just got an mx2 today. I have one problem, though. I try to play video on pandora.tv or youtube, and the device goes nuts. It plays the first second of video, then drops the signal to the tv(goes black). Every now and then, it pups back on, video seemingly in progress, but blanks out again after a second or less.

Anybody know whats going on? I am using stock everything.

ETA Im using a logitech k700 keyboard/touchpad. Is there any way to prevent the on-screen keyboard from popping up? Its pretty annoying and I couldnt figure out how to turn it off in the "input and keyboard" menu.

Install Null Keyboard from Google Play and select this one as default input keyboard in the setting.

Hi all,

I've created a thread about this over at freaktab but haven't got much traction / help, so I figured I'd give it a shot here.

So basically I have an Imito MX2, Installed Finless Bob's 1.5a ROM on it and noticed that the video seems choppy / skipping a frame -- really obvious in Netflix when there is a slow panning of the camera (nothing to do with bandwidth).

The weird thing is it seems to happen not only in video playback but just plain rendered video output. A simple test is to start the Angry birds HD (free), wait till the "START" button appears and look at the flying birds in red in the background -- they should fly smooth across the screen, but they CLEARLY jump / skip frames once every 1-2 seconds (especially if they're moving fast). All background apps are killed, nothing is running / disturbing the CPU.

Something's clearly wrong with either the timing / hdmi output / something else.

Finless & fr0d0 have acknowledged the issue and I've yet to get other people to do the test and observe it.

Running in 720p, no hdmi cables (plugged directly), samsung lcd (of course disabled all the tru-motion 120hz/240hz crap).

And i test all video players avaibles on playstore (mx player, dice player, archos, bsplayer) and all with HW acceleration enable.

Real help would be appreciated -- I really want this device to replace my WDTV media center, but this is _really_ annoying.

Cheers

Read the thread but no one has mentioned what the differences are between MX1 and MX2. Anyone know? Specs look identical, only the casing looks different.

Has anyone tried connecting using Apples Magic Mouse? I got the Apple Bluetooth keyboard working fine. IMX2 finds the mouse but it fails to connect.

I've had my MX2 for a week now and I cannot get the WIFI to connect at all. No matter what I try.... turning on from the quick launch from the home screen.... the 'switches' in the settings.... it will appear to try to turn on and after about 30 seconds revert back to the off position. I've updated the firmware from what was installed to the 11-29-12 release to the Kasty 02-04-2013 version. No difference. Anybody else experiencing this and do you have any suggestions as to a fix? Is my MX2 just plain bad?

It might be your hardware but I would try one other ROM before giving up.

http://www.freaktab.com/showthrea...ss-ROM-1-7

I could never get bluetooth to work on three previous ROMs and thought it was a hardware issue. I flashed the ROM above and both WIFI and bluetooth are working normally.

Good luck!
