From the VERGE:

Update: Walmart wrote in to let us know that they made a mistake with their original press release. The $399 iPad deal is not for the newest generation of the iPad — it's for the older, third-generation model with Apple's old 30-pin connector. It's still not a bad deal, but unfortunately you won't be able to get Apple's latest and greatest iPad from Walmart at that discount. We apologize for the confusion.

Q: is this price valid for adding an additional line to an existing family plan?

Best Buy price matched for me, didn't even need to show them an ad or anything. Quick and easy.
My experience as well. No discussion; no debate from them. I only asked if they were PMing to Walmart and she said yes.

You and the others that got in earlier seem to have gotten lucky. Your timing being accepted for the pricematch dovetails with the sequence of events that Best Buy initially allowed price matches, but when the volume of price matches in this relatively long (2 weeks) promotion at a very cheap price became too large, they started their BS campaign, denying price matches and having "system problems". That seemed to start about the 23rd/24th, maybe as early as the 22nd.
Mine was on the 24th.

What was your total? For example: $127 plus tax on and/or activation fee or What? Can you itemized from your receipt so that we all know. Thanks in advance.

I believe the activation fee is charged on your first bill.

If you don't mind me asking, how exactly did you get Verizon to waive your activation fee? I have heard that they are usually quite willing to do so.

Ported over from Sprint, they agreed in advance.

is there a difference between buying the iphone 5 at walmart vs at the ATT store in terms of legal contract?

i was thinking of just using my contract up to buy and give the phone to a friend. would there be any restrictions?

purchasing the phone from wal-mart at $127 would require a 2 year contract. I guess you could give it to your friend (if you had another phone to use on that carrier).

we have a back up phone. im just more worried if theres any restrictions on giving the phone to a friend. i was told that youre supposed to keep the data plan for 6 months if you were to upgrade to the iphone 5. is that true?

tl;dr: i just want to use my contract thats been up for over two years to buy the iphone 5 and give it to a friend without any catch. is that possible?

I'd just go get it if you are worried about missing out on the Discounted price, it says until they run out of supplies, I think I read in January something.

Thank you for the info. My walmart didn't even have these sale prices for the iphone 4, 4s, or 5 posted. Luckily they had a couple left for at&t, but were out of verizon iphone 5's.
