I don't do it as any money DH donates through his employer is matched. So we do a once a year contribution to the charity (or charities) that we want to help that year.
"Happiness and depression are both feelings, just like joy and anger. It's not feelings that give us problems. It's what we do with them that makes the difference."
"When I was 5 years old, my mom always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down happy. They told me I didn't understand the assignment and I told them they didn't understand life."
This ordeal is like a fire tempering a sword. It's making chewy even tougher. If he got leprosy and his arm fell off, he'd beat the shit out of a bear, dip his stump in lemon juice and sew it back on with his good hand.
no but I always pay with plastic and never have "spare change".
In some places they take credit and debit cards now.
I don't give because I don't contribute to religious organizations like this. They are a very conservative religious organization. Also had bad experiences with them as a kid growing up poor. They have a big church in my town and I've know several disenchanted members that also soured me on the group. I don't think religious groups should be allowed to stand in front of stores begging for money. People seem to be ok with it because they are christian but I bet they would be up in arms if it was a muslim group.
<Patagonian maras, not quite as awesome as capybaras.
Sir, I asked you not to play the song again, didn't I?
There is an answer in a question, and there is hope within despair
And there is beauty in a failure, and there are depths beyond compare
There is a role of a lifetime, and there's a song yet to be sung
And there's a dumpster in the driveway of all the plans that came undone
Every-time I pass by one, I feel obligated to but do not, b/c there are so many. And I have to walk-in and then walk-out, so it is multiple times that I feel the need to.
What do you guys do? Do you give them money?
I will toss some change in every once in awhile, if I have paid cash in the store and have coins leftover. I am surprised the bell ringers are still around since a lot of people don't use cash anymore to make purchases.
