Firearms For You [firearmsforyou.com] has the Sig Sauer W2299SP P229 w/Rail 9mm for $750 shipped. No credit card fees like other places. I've bought 3 guns from these guys this year, and never had an issue. Ships on or before 1/7.

I'm confused... why is this variant not shown on Sig's site?

It's a very nice deal.
  • it's in stock.
  • the 3.9" barrel is smaller than full size (4.4"), which makes it more concealable.
  • the tritium fiber optic front sight is awesomeness incarnate
  • the price isnt jacked up 30% over retail, as many sigs are
  • the 229 is a great shooter with very good out-of-the-box accuracy and great reliability
  • very easy to mount a light, or laser, onto the rail
  • a conversion kit is available for .40, and 357sig
the mfg product number listed, i think, is wrong. sig numbers their pistols like this: E26R9SSE [the 26 refers to the model P226, so a p229 would start with e29, the r refers to rail, the number after the R is the caliber (9mm, 40cal, etc) and the last digits usually refer to composition; SS would be stainless steel body with stainless steel slide (B would indicate black hard anodized), ...]

Good info...great pistol. There is also a 22lr conversion for the P229R. I have it and usually spend 3/4 of my range time in 22lr then switch to a box or so of 9mm. Makes for some economical practice Wink

Jesus mighty. I bought the p229 DAK with rail model 7 years ago from cabelas. Scored it for approx $425 with some coupons/discounts.

This is a rip off. I dont care what "improvements" this has. Way too much for a p229.

I've noticed that Sig's seem to go for astronomical prices nowadays.

Keep the thread on topic about the deal, and not about politics. Political posts have been removed.

$900 @ Cabelas!

I wanted to buy a Sig a few weeks ago but they were ~ 2x most other "brand name" same caliber pistols.

Thats unreal. I havent checked the prices on those for a long time...well since I bought mine 7 years ago.

Id never pay what theyr'e going for now...hell id switch to a glock! Id like a .40 cal in one of those, just have no need or desire to purchase one at the moment. At least those are sub $600.

Yeah...and look what features your car has now vs then. Not to mention a lot more regulations for cars which skyrocket the price. Apples to oranges my friend.

What has changed in guns in the last decade? Political views, thats it. If I want to go buy another p229 it has the same features/specs as it did when I bought mine 7 years ago. Yeah maybe the length of the rail is different or other minor changes...yet the price has increase significantly.

Oh and gas prices/postage have increased which means it costs more to ship the guns to retail stores. Still doesnt make up the difference.
