I will say that adding John Davidson over the hockey operations might make a difference down the road, but only if the GM and Team President stay the hell out of his way. Putting a beloved family accountant (Mike Priest) in charge of a hockey club has not done much in the way of keeping the fan base willing to pay any money to see this team play.
The end of the lockout probably did save the team from going under though in a few years as they at least have a chance of getting some season ticket renewals, many of which are up this year.

They've got a nice arena and a decent fan base, but Columbus is a college town and probably always will be.
