Sounds like the NHL and NHLPA finally agreed on a deal.

Now who's ready for some hockey??

The "it's only one game part"? I keep trying to tell myself that, but watching them play I have a hard time imagining that they're suddenly gonna not suck in a few weeks. It's not just that they lost, it's that they're not playing well at all. Watching the games is incredibly frustrating because I can see all the things they're doing wrong.
The worst part about the "it's only one game" is that it's such a shortened season that every game matters all that much more.

There there, it's only one season. Grin There, that should cover it.

I have a feeling that it's going to be a while before it's "our" season. Washington's best chance to win the Cup was in 08-09 or 09-10.

Kari Lehtonen played an amazing game last night. Too bad they didn't get a shut-out.

Such a weird way to start the season. Many of the teams that were at the top last year (Detroit, Los Angeles, Philly, New York) are all near the bottom this year. What's going on?

Detroit lost two major players (Lidstrom, Holmstrom). That has hurt them.

Philly was a mess last year. Bryzgalov is not as good as they thought he was.

LA is probably having a Stanley Cup hangover.

I think the lockout messed up a lot of team chemistry too. Wait a few weeks and see where teams are.

Oilers will be good in a few seasons, when Nugent-Hopkins, Hall, and Yakupov reach their peak.
Or just the Kings being the Kings. They generally don't start off the season well, at least as far as I can remember. So I'm not terribly surprised. It also doesn't help that Mitchell is out and Greene now appears to be done for the season. That's a huge blow. AND it also doesn't help that 11 of the Kings first 15 games are on the road. I know they kicked ass on the road in the playoffs, but after the long break and already a shaky start to the season, it may not be looking good. I figure if they do poorly enough in these first 15 games their playoff hopes may be done right off the bat.

And yes, word on the street is that Edmonton will be a force to reckon with soon... but for now, I hope they continue playing like this tonight: http://imgur.com/gallery/3mY0bZw laugh out loud

Just checked and last year the Kings got off to a slow start then hit a win streak, then a losing streak, then alternated wins and loses with one more win streak before Quick when on a shut out streak. My feeling is the Kings aren't' going to make the playoffs this year.
Hah! Sounds about right. I'm not counting on them making the playoffs this year either. 48 games isn't enough time for them to move up in the standings and sneak in UNLESS they start to get it together tonight. In addition to injured players, there were some that looked awful in Colorado. Penner and Doughty were looking rough... I think I remember yelling at Scuderi, too. The only players who even stood out in the game (to me, at least) were Clifford, Drewiske, and Nolan. Not really the big name guys everyone is looking for.

But at the same time, we're only two games in. So I'm just going to see what happens.

This. This is very likely.

LMAO I don't know what I'll do if they lose tonight. Maybe laugh. Maybe cry. We'll see.

Unfortunately, with the shortened season, by the time a few weeks pass even if they improve it may be too late to recover.

I was thinking more of 2 weeks from now. Some of the teams that started poorly might be fine by then.

Yea. Wings are getting like 3 of their injured players back this friday, so maybe they can make a difference.

Maybe Nick Lidstrom and Dominik Hasek will come out of retirement. Or maybe even Gordie Howe.
