That's not much of a downfall. I often do 720p60 instead of 1080p30. At 720p30, you get twice the amount of recording in the same space if the bitrate is also cut in half. For videos, 720P isn't that much different than 1080P (versus going from 576P to 720+).
As with cameras, resolution doesn't mean a whole lot once you reach a certain level. Bigger sensors, better quality lenses, video processing, etc mean much more. While I doubt this thing has much of anything high quality, compared to what people had up until recently, it would be excellent. I don't see it being as unusable indoors as a webcam or phone cam, although I wouldn't expect much without a good amount of light.
I was speaking from a pure video quality POV. I bought one and returned it before. It has been $100 from several vendors before too. Don't get me wrong, if you have a 8-10yr old P&S camera and still have a non-smartphone, I think this is an okay camcorder.
Show me a phone that does 52X optical.
P.S. I have space in my home for more than just my phone. Sorry to hear that you don't.
Agree about the camera reviews. However, no phone does 52X optical.
Unless you're that angry parent d-bag that storms the field of your kids' ball games over missed calls, you're filming ants on a field.
Unless your neigbors are all ugly, you'll miss that hot chick underessing in 314B next door.
Yes, today's phones are great for filming things 2 feet away from you, but life extends beyond that.
52x doesnt really matter without anti shake technology... i would rather look at ants on the field comfortably than be able to see peoples faces and then throw up from motion sickness
absolutely right, I remember trying to view stars with a 100x binocs, (its impossible even with a tripod) . Maybe it was the lack of this technology that made it auto refocus each time (amazon reviews)
Not sure if this guy's hand is very shaky, but the videos this guy took are awfully choppy. Worse than an iPhone with an imaginary zoom lens. Not worth carrying a non-pocketable device like this to take lousy videos. If you're going to strictly use a tripod and not pan like to have it sit and record for surveillance or something this could be worthwhile, otherwise gather some more money for something decent. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVDs1DcyIcU
