More of an FYI than a deal, but current Discover More card holders should phone in to product change to a Discover IT. The IT is better in every way - it has
better rewards: (same category bonuses, but with 1% cash back from the first dollar instead of after 3k)
and lower fees: waived overlimit fee and fee for first late payment, lower interest rates.

Phone in to switch, no credit pull.

If you don't have a Discover More card, consider holding off on applying for a Discover IT until there is a cash bonus offer.

Signing up for a brand new credit card? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of keeping the same card/number and all your card history?
I never close old cards unless I need to churn them for sign up bonus. So the plan is to keep the old card as well as open a new IT card when they announce a good signup bonus, hoping they won't exclude the member who have the 'old more card' from bonus.

Besides having both cards will double your 5% cash back limits from $1500 to $3000, thus increasing the cashback from $75 to $150 each quarter.

I just called Discover to get a credit increase but was denied, no change in 1 year... Got my APR changed to a permanent 12.99% from 14.99% and asked to switch to the IT card, I get the card next billing cycle. TU + Rep.

I now have the Discover More and IT card. This going to turn out great when $75 cashback deal for online purchases comes back. I'm looking forward for the free $150 each year.

IDK, I quit using them all together after I switched to Freedom and Blue, those MFers wouldnt give me a credit limit raise... I am still stuck at $500 limit LMAO with them.
I had discover more 500$ credit limit since 2010 but they recently upped my limit to like $1500 without me asking. You just have to wait sometimes.

Just clarified with the conversion team that if you convert, it will not prevent you from applying and getting future Discover IT welcome cashback bonus offers.

So if there is a Discover IT $200 cashback bonus 3 months from now, existing Discover IT cardholders who had their Discover IT cards via conversion will be eligible to re-apply for that 2nd Discover IT card and get that $200 welcome bonus.

Just make sure that you have the Discover agent notate your account about this should they change their minds down the road on this you can escalate and refer back to the notations.

I've been debating about switching from More to IT, but I don't use the card other than for 5% bonuses. However, I wish I had the 1% because I put $350 in gas thinking it was 5% bonus and it isn't. FAIL. Frown

Maybe I'll get the Chase Freedom card at some point.

Personally I'll keep my More card and wait for the "it" card signup bonus and sign up for that then. That way, I can get the bonus and double up on the quarterly bonuses. Since both have no annual fee, there's no reason not to keep both, even if you don't use them for anything else besides quarterly bonuses and shopdiscover CB.
only drawback i see is that you'll be losing extra cb of 'discover it' until the new card you'll be applying for in future, rather than benefiting of 'it' from now on......worshipworshipworship

So after 7 years, I'm dropping Discover. Very unprofessional CSRs in their Salt Lake City call center. In a dozen years with dozens of credit cards, I've never had this kind of experience. It started when I called to activate my IT card, I voiced frustration about how my Freedom and AmEx cards offer better rewards and Discover never has incentives for me. She gave a sarcastic, "ALL RIGHT YOOOU HAVE A NICE DAY!"

Then my new IT card was rejected for a fraud alert (first use). When I called to clear it up, "Christina" and "Crystal" hung up on me twice trying to connect me to the fraud department. They called back each time with a very scripted "Sorry about the inconvenience, all calls are recorded, we need you to verify your birthday before we can give out any info." They know how to harass, it worked. I'll cash out my points and close this biatch. Cash Over at the checkout register was a nice feature, though.

Sorry for your bad experience. In more than years than you as a cardholder, I've had nothing but wonderful experiences with Discover CSRs, most recently this past week when my a Money Messenger payment triggered a fraud alert on my account.

And not for nothing, when I've had a fraud alert and called in on 1-800-DIS-COVE, it immediately transfers me to the fraud department upon putting in my card number. No CSRs first. It just automatically goes, since it sees the fraud alert.

I wouldn't call their CSR's unprofessional, however, I am too annoyed by the constant fraud alerts. I get my card locked out about once a month. I immediately get a text alert, and have to call them to unlock it. It is frustrating, but I also understand that they are trying to protect themselves from fraudulent charges, since I have ZERO responsibility for fradulent charges with Discover.

I travel quite a bit, and I understand why they would think that the card is compromized when it is used in NY one day, and in OH the next, or IL, or LA, or TX... It matches the use patterns of stolen card numbers that are traded and programmed into physical cards.

You'll just have to wait and see -- if someone finds an offer then they'll post a thread

Got the card for my mom 2 months ago and there were no bonus offers at that time so I applied through Amazon credit card marketplace which gave a $75 Amazon GC & 0% for 14 months (no problems getting the $75 GC)

I was thinking to apply a discover card for a while, I never had one, should I wait for a good cash offer? If yes how do I find out if there is any?
