More of an FYI than a deal, but current Discover More card holders should phone in to product change to a Discover IT. The IT is better in every way - it has
better rewards: (same category bonuses, but with 1% cash back from the first dollar instead of after 3k)
and lower fees: waived overlimit fee and fee for first late payment, lower interest rates.

Phone in to switch, no credit pull.

If you don't have a Discover More card, consider holding off on applying for a Discover IT until there is a cash bonus offer.

You can also use Live Chat toswitch over from More to IT.

As for the PayPal sending, this is what a CSR said "The paypal is a special promotion for certain accounts, so if you have it on the account now it will be on the Discover IT."

Just for the Card design freaks...You get to keep the current Discover More card(if you have it already)until it expires.

BIG QUESTION...

does the "it" card qualify for the same 5% quarterly bonus categories as the "More" card? the ones where you have to sign up at their website (ie 5% gas, restaurants, etc)

Yes, the rotating 5% is still there

The new It card basically replaced the More card -- if you look on Discover's website, the More card is no longer listed

Its pretty much the same card as the old one, but the biggest difference is that the new card has base 1% cash back for all purchases (More card was 0.25% for the first $3000 annual purchases and then 1% after that)

Discover is letting existing customers convert their old More cards to the new It card if they want to -- they haven't done it automatically for everyone since its better for Discover to keep people on the old program (paying 0.25% on the first $3000 in purchases)

I almost get an offer from discover IT every other week by mail, should I just sign up since I never had one or wait for a good cash offer? and what would be a "good" offer?

If you want/need the card now then go for whatever good targeted offer you have or apply from Amazon credit card marketplace ($75 Amazon GC & 0% for 14 months)

Not sure what a good sign up bonus offer is, but if you don't like the current offers you got in the mail then just wait it out and see if something else comes up

Google "discover sign up bonus 2012" and "discover sign up bonus 2013" to see recent offers -- most of the offers from earlier this year and all of last year were for the More card so they're most likely not valid any more

AFAIK, the only cash offer for the Discover IT card that I've seen involves taking an existing member and getting a referral from them. So for example if I referred you, you'd get $50 cash or whatever. The referrer also gets $50 cash, but some are down to part with some of that. I usually tell people that if they want to get a referral through me, I'll give them half of my referral bonus, but that's just me. That makes it $75 cash to them.

Having trouble getting to the chat button - is it just totally random or are there set hours? Seems to be there then gone then busy etc

Switched! Took a grand total of 6 minutes over the phone and I asked questions.

Only downsides of switching from current Discover card:

- Will not send checks for cash advances
- Once switched, can't switch back
- Not as many card designs available

For me, those were not downsides. Thanks OP!

Just used the live chat and asked for them to switch me over to "IT" and was told that they cannot do it over the website and that I'd have to call.
