Guys, I by far recommend a citizens eco-drive over these. I'd check out ebay for the bm8400 or bm8402 models. They're conservative look, better quality, and eco drive. If you can score eco drives for sub $100, it makes watches like the one listed pointless..............good search is to use citizem bm. This will bring up many different options for you. Usually 50% off what retail price is, but sometimes more.

What does "RAILROAD APPROVED" mean? See it on the dial.
It means you are allowed to wear it on a train.

Not sure how I feel about the expandable band. I have only owned the traditional link bands.

Same. The expansion bracelet type band is the only reason I'm hesitating. I really like the clasp type bands that I've had in the past.

Meh, I think I'm a no on this one.
I've had bad experience with these expandable bands... I have hairy arms (not Sasquatch hairy, just manly!Stick Out Tongue) and I found the band would catch hairs and pull them whenever I moved my arm, in the end I stopped wearing the watch. This would be a great deal in my opinion with a clasp bracelet, oh well!

Already got a shipping notice (USPS ) from Ashford for my order earlier today. Pleasantly surprised by the speed they processed the order with.

Not to worried about the band. I've had them before and although I prefer the clasp style, my hair rarely got caught.

"Railroad Approved" is a time-keeping measure certification. It basically means that railroad timetables can be created using this timepiece and they will be certified as accurate.

Hey guys, just wanted to say something in case you don't notice. Seiko is a great brand and I can vouch for their quality having worked in the watch selling and repairing industry for a while and this is a good deal for this watch, but just take note that the band is the stretch style band. I know I'm personally not a fan of that type of band and some others feel the same way, so please make note of that before buying one. :-)

Uh, I'm not dissing Citizen because they are a great watch brand too, but they are not better than Seiko. In fact, Citizen sometimes uses movements made by Seiko in some of their watches... I would definitely recommend Seiko over Citizen, but again, not saying Citizen is not good. BTW, I've owned a Citizen Eco-Drive before (got stolen...). It is indeed a good watch, but I wouldn't say it was better quality than any of my Seiko's.

you had a Citizen Eco-Drive stolen? How so?
I hear about high end watches getting stolen, but not something that common.

Oh, thanks for pointing out the stretch style band. I'm not a fan of it either. I almost pulled the trigger but passed for it.

Seems like a good watch, and if the band is that bad I can get a new one for $7 and replace it myself. Well worth it since I would likely get an extra band anyways

Wish it didn't have those ugly 13-24 markers on it. Gives it a very messy look. Why??????

I know how to adjust them, and it is a bit of a skill. It's not really hard, it's just a lot of little small tabs to bend, so it's a little annoying, lol. Although it looks like it has like an adjustable slider thing on the back of the band for that purpose...

I had left it at my mom's house for a while, and one day someone broke into her house and stole a bunch of things. That watch was just one of the things that got stolen. I'm sure the burglar didn't really stop to check what it was, just grabbed anything that was easy to grab...

I'm not a fan of expansion bracelets either. I think this watch would look pretty good on a NATO strap, though. And that would only cost and extra $10 or $12 bucks.
