Got an email from DSW about their clearance. They have a ton of solid deals, but I thought this one was particularly good. Shoe typically goes for $125, but it's on sale for $36.94 with free shipping.

DSW is also offering double rewards points on their clearance purchases.

Free shipping code: SHIPR
Double points code: GIMME2

I think his point was that the ~$300 AE's are leather uppers with a leather sole (unlike most of the ~$50 shoes that are rubber) and the AE's can be recrafted to like-new. As long as they're cared for they should last a few years, even with a lot of use.

To that point, I would love to get AE's, but can't justify $300 on shoes and have never been able to find them thrifting.
I understand where the post is coming from, but these threads aren't a "what are your opinion on the product being sold" threads. They are "find me a deal" threads. I don't care if this guy has AE's that are the only product he believes are worth buying. If he wants to spend $300 on shoes then why the heck is he on the slickdeals website? The purpose of this thread is someone found a deal and its a good one. Why the heck is quality such a huge issue for a $36 shoe?! And no, I can guarantee AE's wouldn't last me a couple years because I have had high quality shoes before and they don't work for me. The way I walk creates an imbalanced wear on my shoes and I can run through any pair of dress shoes in 9 months flat. I've tried fixing it but to no avail. Sorry Mr. Fancy Schmancy that you think the shoes are crap, but you cannot disagree that $36 for a new pair of shoes is a good deal.

TL;DR - Stop hijacking threads and telling people to buy other expensive shoes. This is a forum made to find great deals on products, no matter what their quality is.
