wow...
200$ for ~60$ in parts (for my car anyway), and no water pump included.
seems like a bit much to me Wink

how much do people normally pay to have a mechanic work on their cars?

VERY much doubt this can be replicated. Service centers are independently run and come up with their own offers. If anybody else honors this, thank them because they don't have to.

Me too - it is $1000+ in WA; I was tempted to drive down to CA to get this done for $599 and make a vacation of it ! Apparently, this is a 4-6 hour job which involves multiple technicians and disassembles/reassembles your entire engine. $199 is a killer deal - while you are at it, spend the extra $$ to replace water pump.

Yes, really good price. Maybe they bring in the local High School auto shop and give them experience doing the change. Thats my vote.

I hate saying this, but 99% of the time there's a catch in these automotive service deals...

wow, that's insane.
for ~100$ (if you use OEM parts) and an afternoon a DIY'er could easily change a timing belt and waterpump. it's so damn easy now.

but hey, i guess this is a great price if you can't or don't want to do it yourself.
