Can you have mame run off like an android tablet?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Raspberry Pi isn't going to have the horsepower to play a lot of MAME titles well. Regardless, my OUYA is on the way in March so it could make an awesome input device for it Smilie
I'd bet if you used an old version of MAME and played old games from the 80s and 90s it would be fine. The CPUs back then were running at 4 Hz....

Please note, if you're building an actual mame arcade, for the love of god don't just plop one of these on top and call it an arcade. Thanks!
What would you suggest? I'm asking because I was thinking of doing exactly that.

Give them a little credit, it was faster than 4 Hz...

ahmen! I HATED seeing nice MAME cabinet builds with stupid x-arcades just shoved in as a control panel. I never understood why people would do this. Designing and building the control panel was always one of the more fun parts of the MAME cabinet building experience for me.

No, they only got faster after Capcom released Street Fighter II Turbo. It's just the same game clocked up from 4 Hz. It was a major breakthrough in chip technology and Capcom spun the division off to what eventually became Intel.

True story.

So it's an aesthetics thing?

I had one of these probably 9 years ago and let a friend borrow it, and of course, never saw it again. I didn't even think twice to order another one at this price. If only SlikStik were still in business, though.
I've had mine since Aug 2002, upgraded the interface mini board with the USB board a few years ago and it still runs flawlessly. It's a steal at this price.

I'm just gonna get an old table or desk and build into it and run it off my Android stick MX2 imito

I think it should work just fine.

For me, yes. If you take the time to build an entire arcade, why not make a nice matching control panel? It's usually cheaper, you can customize the layout/amount of buttons/etc.

I could myself using one of these on my coffee table in front of my projector or tv.

Bought one. If I decide not to use it, I can sell it on CL for a profit.

Sweet deal, I built my own a few years ago.
Kiddk1,
How much does it cost you to build the Street fighter arcade?

No no, I'm pretty sure if you put your ear to a space invader cabinet you can hear the little man inside turning the gears.
