I though gaming peripherals had 1 year warranty not 3 could have changed though
The better companies have 3 years - Microsoft, Intel, Logitech are a few off the top of my head. I had a microsoft blue tech mouse that crapped out after 2 years, it was discontinued so microsoft gave me a check the full purchase price, I turned around a re-bought a new one on amazon for 1/3 of the price.
This mouse is optical too, not that it really matters if the optical sensor is good. Good optical sensors can actually work better than laser sensors for gaming.
As for the warranty, my Logitech MX500 (Their first high-performance mouse shaped like this) has been going strong for the better part of a decade, so it's probably not that vital, unless build quality has significantly changed since then. The one reviewer mentions getting an early version of the G400 that has prediction enabled in its sensor chip though, which snaps mostly-straight mouse movement to straight lines. Logitech has since disabled that in newer production runs to provide better accuracy for gaming, but you won't know which version you'll get from a refurbished unit.
I wouldn't mind getting another performance mouse to replace my MX500, though I'd probably want to dedicate at least one button to swap DPI modes on the newer model, and since the G400 has an identical button layout, I'd be effectively losing a button to use for other purposes. I wouldn't mind trying one of Logitech's higher end mice, though they have different shapes and button layouts as well.
The new G400 was just $30, seems to be $34 now, but I would still spend the few extra bucks (that you saved from countless SDs no doubt) and get the full warranty so you can sleep better at night.
I dunno... $30 + tax vs. $18 + maybe tax. That's a big price increase for a warranty that has a lower chance of being used anyway since durability is a big reason why people buy Logitech stuff in the first place.
Though I'll also say these may be "refurbished," but they're not refurbished by Logitech.
But it does still have a 90-day warranty on it.
And Newegg will cover replacement for the first 30 days.
If you get one that works for the first 30-90 days, it'll probably continue to work. And for a $12 price difference, it has to work about a year and a half to break even.
OP should change the title to reflect Masosoup's 30% off refurbished stuff code, btw.
