I have been looking for the best deal on a Windows tablet and came across these guys on Viewsonic's factory store:

Viewsonic Viewpad 10pi Windows 7 Tablet - $299
http://www.viewsonic.com/us/table...-10pi.html

Viewsonic Viewpad 10pi Windows 7 Ready Tablet - $149
http://www.viewsonic.com/us/table...no-os.html

Viewsonic must be blowing these out, because the cheapest price I could find for the $299 version with Windows 7 pre-installed is $499.99 on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Viewsonic-V...ewpad+10pi

I was able to buy that $39.99 Windows 8 upgrade special from Microsoft before it expired yesterday and was thinking about using that to do a clean install on the $149 version of this Viewsonic 10pi. That would give me a Windows 8 tablet for under $200.

What do you think? Does anyone know of a better deal out there on a Windows tablet?

Would you buy 10" unstable GPS for over $150?
So, does it sound right when you can purchase other more reliable knock off chinese tablet with GPS for less than that?
Who says it is unstable?
It is not just GPS, FYI, it is a real Windoz machine.
Powerful, not, usable, yes.

I really don't see why windows 8 wouldn't be installable on this. Unless there is a processor incompatibility. I want to buy this, but the freaken button won't work!

i want to get this for development reasons but...the single core n270 is meh....but i could get over that...but then that battery life is probably w/o wifi on, with ultra dim settings, running nothing, and getting 4 hours, so most likely i'd get 2 hours while using the tablet. so basically 150$ for 64 gb ssd and 2 gb ddr2 ram and the screen. if only it had a dual core i would probably get it.

*moves on, sad Frown*

Someone mentioned the network drivers were not available for Win 8
I would suspect the drivers for Windows 7 would work, but that's a guess. At worst a dongle could be added for wireless.

Any idea how GPS works. With AT&T free WiFi maybe?
Why would you need WiFi for GPS?

Hmm, from my experience anything working on 7 works naively on 8. If the driver is available then it shouldn't be an issue. I'll install 8 as soon as I get it. This might be a good time for me to get into the ROM building scene to get a custom Android Rom on this.

If Windows 8 and JellyBean worked on this, it would be the slickest deal since the HP touchpad!

If you're talking about the S2109, this is probably getting more ups because of the windows capability.
