I have been looking for the best deal on a Windows tablet and came across these guys on Viewsonic's factory store:

Viewsonic Viewpad 10pi Windows 7 Tablet - $299
http://www.viewsonic.com/us/table...-10pi.html

Viewsonic Viewpad 10pi Windows 7 Ready Tablet - $149
http://www.viewsonic.com/us/table...no-os.html

Viewsonic must be blowing these out, because the cheapest price I could find for the $299 version with Windows 7 pre-installed is $499.99 on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Viewsonic-V...ewpad+10pi

I was able to buy that $39.99 Windows 8 upgrade special from Microsoft before it expired yesterday and was thinking about using that to do a clean install on the $149 version of this Viewsonic 10pi. That would give me a Windows 8 tablet for under $200.

What do you think? Does anyone know of a better deal out there on a Windows tablet?

Doubt it.
CPU/GPU combo is pretty weak.

You would be much better off w/Lenovo Yoga for thisbounce

Worthless, absolutely, can't play Walking deadBig Grin

Android recompiled for an Intel processor? Bad juju. Just ask Logitech and their Revue, a Google TV device which also runs on an Intel Atom processor. Very limited app store support, since the apps have to be recompiled (or worse, rewritten) for the Intel architecture.
I know (from first hand experience) that Windows 8 runs better on lesser hardware than Windows 7, but I would still want at least a dual core processor to run it on. A single core Atom? No thank you.

this makes me wish i could take my pentium III PC, toss in a 64 GB SSD, a couple more sticks of RAM, and stream 15 GB mkv files or 1080p youtube movies. oh way but i can't, because flash storage and more RAM a quick computer does not make.

the touchpad firesale was what, 2+ years ago? and that even had a dual core. lawl

id recommend damn small linux (DSL) or puppy linux. i doubt anything else will really run that well. ubuntu will probably eat it on the n270 (it does on my n450 plus netbook). you can try to see if you can find the ubuntu netbook remix maybe that will work.

I think everyone is overestimating this thing, and given the price. The processor is just too weak for everything. I mean this company took some of the best ingredients(metaphorically) of a tablet, and put in a tomato for a brain and heart.
