I have been looking for the best deal on a Windows tablet and came across these guys on Viewsonic's factory store:

Viewsonic Viewpad 10pi Windows 7 Tablet - $299
http://www.viewsonic.com/us/table...-10pi.html

Viewsonic Viewpad 10pi Windows 7 Ready Tablet - $149
http://www.viewsonic.com/us/table...no-os.html

Viewsonic must be blowing these out, because the cheapest price I could find for the $299 version with Windows 7 pre-installed is $499.99 on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Viewsonic-V...ewpad+10pi

I was able to buy that $39.99 Windows 8 upgrade special from Microsoft before it expired yesterday and was thinking about using that to do a clean install on the $149 version of this Viewsonic 10pi. That would give me a Windows 8 tablet for under $200.

What do you think? Does anyone know of a better deal out there on a Windows tablet?

Hi Tatiana et al,

Good to see the thread still alive.

After my third RMA I gave up and sold my Viewsonic.

Got myself Lenovo Miix 2 8" instead.

Viewsonic was nice, except for the quality issues.
Hi Bagira! I missed this when you posted it somehow. Glad you got a nice new machine. I was pretty irritated by the Viewsonic quality issues as well, and ended up selling my two units on Ebay for $260 each. Some computer repair store bought them, actually, so they will have to deal with them now. Well, at least I made a profit. And it was fun. Smilie

I lost the driver disk. I am able to install everything (Win7) except for the Bluetooth. I downloaded the driver from viewsonic. Everything in Device Manager seems fine, but I am not able to use the BT. Can someone send me the driver and BlueSoleil? Much appreciated.
I'll have to hunt for a spare driver disk, but I can get them to you tomorrow. PM me your email.

Congrats!

I highly recommend Lenovo Miix 2, just got a second one refurb from the outlet for $155+tax.

I suggest you do the same while they are still available.

It was good to hear from you Smilie

It's good to hear from you too! We should meet up here every year or so, just to keep the thread alive. This has to be the biggest, longest-running thread ever. Big Grin

Thanks for the heads up on the Lenovo. I've been wanting a new 10 inch tab, but that price might be too good to pass up. I can probably find a use for it. Repped. Smilie

Hi Folks,

I just went through the process to install Windows 7 that is outlined in the PDF.

Unfortunately, when I got to Step 9: Download and install VRSwitcher, the website seems to no longer be available:

http://vsg.viewsonic.com/v10pi/ap...itcher.msi

Could someone please point me in the right direction to where I can find the VRSwitcher.msi file?

Thanks!

Had windows 8.1 installed, tablet was ok.Installed Windows 10 prview. Still could not get the built in wifi to work. Played around with 10 for a while, tablet was sluggish. Not worth keeping. Installed Windows 7, built in wifi works fine, tablet runs alot better with 7 installed than 8 or 10.

I thought it ran better with 10 than 7, but you're right that Wifi doesn't work Frown
