Unless otherwise stated in the offer, these bonuses and/or awards are intended for persons who are not, and have not previously been, NFL Extra Points credit card members with Barclaycard. You understand and agree that, unless we otherwise state, you are no longer eligible to receive these bonuses and/or awards for any new NFL Extra Points credit card accounts you open after your first account with Barclaycard is opened. If you receive a bonus or award for which you are not eligible, we may revoke the bonus or award, or reduce your points by the amount of the award, or charge your account for the fair value of the bonus or award, at our option.

They are not upfront.

Most popular FAQ:
1. Already a NFL Visa Signature Card Holder - Can I apply?
No
2. Already a NFL Master Card Holder - Can I apply?
Yes, ( as of 2/4/13, don't bother as Barclay has caught on)
3. Once I was a NFL Credit Card Holder and closed the acccount - Can I apply?
Yes.
4. I have poor or normal credit - Can I apply?
No. Usually Visa Signature will be approved only for better and best credit customers

Barclays has somewhere buried in the small print that you have to be a permanent resident while in some other places it only says legal resident. From other forums I can tell you that some visa holders get approved while others get denied (with the denial letter citing permanent residence as a reason). Also there have been cases where Barclays asked the applicant to fax a copy of his US passport/green card. So if you're here on a visa it's a gamble.

Check status at:
www.myapplicationstatus.com/barclays

IF you are Instantly Approved, you should set up online account and check program overview under reweards to see if they say your bonus points will actually be 40,000 like advertised. many are only finding 10,000 bonus points are linked to their new accounts.
you can send a secure online message to barclay and ask them to correct this as their offer clearly says 40,000 bonus points.
Bonus Points are Advertised at 40,000 Points but your online account under Rewards and Program Overview may only reference 10,000 Bonus Points : Cardmembers will receive a one time bonus award of forty thousand (40,000) points after at least $2,500 in Net Purchases (that are not later returned or rescinded) has been charged to the new account in the first ninety (90) days after account opening. Bonus Points will be posted within approximately thirty (30) days after the qualifying transaction. Use of Balance Transfer Checks or convenience checks will not qualify for any bonus points. The Balance Transfer is subject to the Balance Transfer Fee set forth in the Terms and Conditions

Interesting. Are there forums or threads here with more info on this? Are there other ways to control the access so as to be beneficial? How are you bumping the pulls off the other agency reports?
While I'm unsure if there's specifically threads about this on SD, here's some info direct from experian and TU:
http://www.experian.com/consumer/...reeze.html
http://www.transunion.com/persona...eezes.page

And more relevant info:

Some popular credit site (you can google them) have techniques for bumping Hard Inquiries off of your Equifax and TransUnion reports. After gaining an understanding, it does work but the one thing is that Experian doesn't have that ability (they use real technology) lol.

The reason behind the freeze is that if you app for something and the company tries Experian they can't pull it. Thus, you a) don't get the hard inquiry and dont get the credit opportunity; b) realize what they are pulling and weigh if you want to waste an inquiry for that by unfreezing Experian and c) if the company approves you for the app (like they did me on this card) you know its on TransUnion or Equifax. Just like SD has helped me get so many deals, a certain credit site has helped me to understand and boost my credit worthiness. The inquiry bumping is just a very interesting subject that took me a while to fully comprehend and implement.

It's not an easy thing and it takes time and patience but its been worth it to me.

Sadly, a lot of companies weigh inquiries a lot heavier than the FICO models.

And one last note about inquiries... Experian is heavily used (like there was an Amex example). Discover (Credit card side), BofA, and a lot of CUs pull Equifax and TransUnion more often. YMMV though but that's the general consensus on the site I use.
Interesting. How hard is it to get approved through a frozen Experian file if you want to be approved? Do you just do more soft pulls to bump hard pulls of the list?

I did my Experian freeze online and provided them verification information. It was $10 charged on my credit card and about 5 minutes of a time.

In short, yes. By getting at least 3 daily pullers. But there are monthly dates where they chop those down and you have to rebuild and some other things too.

I'm confused on the 2500 vs 1000 in spending. You can only apply for one, correct? What is the reasoning for the 2500 if the 1000 exists.

Trying to understand this whole $25 thing.

Buy $1000 worth of items, each transaction must be $25 or more. Then apply the 40,000 pts aka 400$ to first credit card statement. Is this correct?

TIA

I signed up for Barclay's myNFLcard VISA last August. Instantly approved for MC today. Credit Karma score 763.

My wife signed up for Barclay's myNFLcard MC last October. Credit Karma score 720. Applied for VISA today. However, she was not instantly approved: "10 days to process your application" notice. (Will call the reconsideration line tomorrow.)
UPDATE:

Application denied. Reason: Bank won't issue a VISA account because she already has the myNFLcard MC. (I tried calling back again with a different CSR, same result. I had the CSR check with supervisor, same result.)

That's the bad news. The good news is that they didn't do a credit pull, so no harm - no foul.

Would it have mattered, if you'd cancelled the existing Visa and then apply? I have their MC but it was $200 promo last year. I want to see if cancelling and applying for Visa would make it eligible.

Just link the card to your amazon payments account. Send $1k to yourself or spouse. Apply $410 credit to the $1k charge. Don't make it harder than it really is.

That is BS. My wife and I both had this visa card from last year and got approved for another this year (with last years account still open). We have multiple Barclay credit card accounts and use them often for our business purchases so maybe that helped.

I had the visa card from last october, and the good thing about it is the points show up as soon as you make the purchase (maybe a couple hours max).. i did not have to wait till next statement to see and use the ponts
