I spoke with Straight Talk tonight about switching and was told that they recently have decided that AT&T will no longer be offered. Anyone with a current AT&T SIM will continue to receive service but once SIMs are sold out, no more will be offered.

So as a heads up to people who love ST or net10, might want to buy another backup AT&T SIM while supplies last at walmart.

Retail price may be a hot deal as sold out = gone for good.

Rep did not tell me why they were doing this but the straightalk website confirms it as you can now only order a T-mobile SIM.

Is it true that AT&T Straight Talk capable SIMs have started being throttled/capped after 1.5GB of data usage?

If so, I don't understand the need to pay $60+ for a Straight Talk SIM when Net10 AT&T SIMs are available in abundance on eBay for ~$1+free shipping, and you can auto-enroll at $45/month or (if you're resourceful) get refill cards for even less.

They are asking for a class action law suit. They best be putting something on their site quick. And if this 1.5 gb limit is true for straight talk their sims will start going way down in value.

Does Walmart have att computable sims,?,they are sold out right?

My nearest walmart still stocks them to this day. It's the only one though. All the rest of the Walmarts in my area have pulled it from the shelf.

I am using an unlocked and not jailbroken IPhone 4 and I did option #3 above. I am able to text a picture (Is that what they call MMS?) Do you know how I am able to do that with #3?

Edit:
Never mind. My wireless was on when I tried that. I guess I have to delete the APN amd do the t-mobile sim method.

quick question.

If I buy the sim card pack from Walmart, can I use all 3 sim cards or is there only one activation code inside?

n/m I found out. All 3 SIM cards have seperate activation codes.

I just found one tonight too at my Wal-Mart in Salem NH has 3 sim cards one standard T-Mobile and 2 AT&T one micro and one standard

There's 3 sims in the box, I think. Regular and micro ATT sim and a regular t-mobile sim.

If I buy $60 pack (containing 3 sim card), and just activate 1 microsim ATT for my phone, can I sell other two regular sim (att & tmobile) ? I believe $60 pack comes with $45 refill as well

I live near Sherman, TX.

Has anyone talked to Straight Talk support about the longevity of ATT on straight talk? I would hate to switch everything over and then have them drop att completely

Now that the AT&T sim cards are no longer available, I'm curious to know what other AT&T users are choosing when switching over to ST. Especially if you're in the STL area.

not a deal related, but i found an interesting discussion around discontinuation of ST compatible at&t sim card :

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r...-~start=20

people claim they managed to do this :

1) (get) New iPhone with a new 2 year contract with AT&T
2) a few month later decides to switch to ST willing to pay the ETF
3) Put in the ST (AT&T) SIM, activate the SIM with number port etc
4) iPhone works, voice mail was already configured (old password work) and no ETF fee was billed.

so, once you port your at&t number to ST (on at&t network), account will cease and no ETF fee will be billed since your number still active on at&t network ? if this is real, must be a billing system glitch on at&t side that customers can take advantage of.
i am not with at&t so i can't try it.

Not sure about all of the above, but I can confirm the voicemail part in addition after my final bill was sent and paid I received a refund check for the same amount that was paid on the last month just the other day. Weird.....could be just something with my account, but I would consider whatever happened a glitch.

This has been discussed and discussed and discussed. Seems like a lot of people have been able to do it. I think it's always been YMMV, but I've never heard of someone who tried it and didn't pay the ETF. My word of caution would be just make sure you're willing to pay the ETF before you do it......because clearly you're supposed to have to pay it.....and do the happy dance if you don't and sell your phone for a nice profit.

I was able to find one of the sim bundles yesterday at the super wal-mart on winward parkway in the Alpharetta Georgia area, they had at least one more of them if anyone else is in this same area and looking for a AT&T straight talk sim.

These were the bundles where they have both a standard and micro AT&T sim, and a T-mobile Sim in the package along with a 45 dollar airtime card.

Their system was glitching when I tried to check out up front, the only way the cashier was able to get it to let them finish the transaction (as it kept saying it was already activated), was to run the sim bundle thru separately to the rest of my purchases.

Yeah, Georgia's crazy behind the curve. I can still find Kindles sold at Walmart here. shake head
