I spoke with Straight Talk tonight about switching and was told that they recently have decided that AT&T will no longer be offered. Anyone with a current AT&T SIM will continue to receive service but once SIMs are sold out, no more will be offered.

So as a heads up to people who love ST or net10, might want to buy another backup AT&T SIM while supplies last at walmart.

Retail price may be a hot deal as sold out = gone for good.

Rep did not tell me why they were doing this but the straightalk website confirms it as you can now only order a T-mobile SIM.

DH has an iPhone 4s with his company which runs on Verizon. He's about due an upgrade, so he's going to get an iPhone 5. They'll let him keep the 4s. Is there anyway that I can use it on ST's network? I know before you could only use an AT&T phone on the ST network, but it seems like I'm reading now that you can possibly use a Verizon phone? Would anyone care to explain it to me? Would I have to do anything to the 4s to get it to work besides find a SIM to fit the phone? I have a SIM in my 3GS right now, so I think IF (a big IF with me, lol) I could, I could use it in the 4s? Thanks for any help! I really do appreciate it!

It makes a lot of business sense. They've already spent the money to build the network. They'll charge people as much as they can get away with. Then the people who won't pay that much can go to a MVNO. But they still make money on the MVNO, but since a different business is spending all the money for marketing, accounting, cust service, etc. they are just doing the easy part and providing access.
As I said would happen:

Corporate owned subsidiaries will replace MVNO's. ATT pulled out of straighttalk to launch the above brand. GSM MVNO's will die off.

You may have said it but your not Nostradamus. Everyone new this was coming. Straight Talk, Boost Mobile and Virgin stole a lot of the post paid customers. Once the BYOS came to Straight Talk and everybody jumped ship from AT&T with there iPhone's AT&T was almost forced to take action. You can't really blame them.

Im wondering if it would be a good idea to hold on to a few of these sims just incase you need on in the future (lost your phone, want to bring a family member on board, ect).

I imagine it would be pretty hard to find one cheaply 6 months to a year from now...
