Inspired by this thread
and specifically this post
, I did some digging to look for the 50 GB offer from Box.com for Dell advantage customers.
It turns out that the link does NOT seem to be specific to a user, so ANYONE can use it. Besides, they seem to WANT to share with your co-workers and friends. Consider yourselves my friends
50 GB link [box.com]
What's Better Than a Win-Win? A Win-Win-Win. Get 50GB of Box FREE for Life & 50GB for Coworkers or Friends.
50 GB of web storage
250 MB file size limit
10 GB - monthly shared bandwidth limit (calendar) [box.com]
Simple sharing and collaboration
Mobile app access
- I already signed up on the 25GB promo, can I sign up again?
For those who signed up previously with a gmail account, you can use the multiple gmail aliases trick [makeuseof.com]
, to sign up again for the 50 GB.
So instead of signing up for firstname.lastname@example.org
, sign up with email@example.com, and it should sign you up to a new account. Posters have reported this works and some use firstname.lastname@example.org for ease of remembering.
- It seems to require a phone number. Do I have to give my real phone number?
Yes, a phone number is required, and no, it does not have to be a real one.
- Can I merge multiple accounts together?
No, this is not possible. From Box.com's FAQ [box.com]
We currently do not provide account merge functionality, and email address cannot be associated with more than one Box account
Posters HAVE reported being able to share folders from one account to the other, though. This might run into sharing bandwidth issue, though.
