- I already signed up on the 25GB promo, can I sign up again?
For those who signed up previously with a gmail account, you can use the multiple gmail aliases trick , to sign up again for the 50 GB.
So instead of signing up for firstname.lastname@example.org, sign up with email@example.com, and it should sign you up to a new account. Posters have reported this works and some use firstname.lastname@example.org for ease of remembering.
- It seems to require a phone number. Do I have to give my real phone number?
Yes, a phone number is required, and no, it does not have to be a real one.
- Can I merge multiple accounts together?
No, this is not possible. From Box.com's FAQ :
Quote :We currently do not provide account merge functionality, and email address cannot be associated with more than one Box account
Furthermore, you can use a program like Winrar or 7zip to manage larger file sizes.
Forget the gmail trick. You'll STILL be logging in with an email other than your own regular log-in. Do the account hop. Or, in this case, the box hop! Heres what I did.
1. I added a disposable email address to my old (25) account. (click gear icon > account settings > then scroll down to add emails)
2. I made that NEW (disposable) email address the primary account email.
3. I deleted my original (good) email from the account.
4. I made a NEW (50) account using a 3rd email (disposable)
5. I added my original (good) email to the new account.
6. I made the original (good) email the primary.
7. I deleted the 3rd (disposable) email.
You can now log in with your original email. No having to remember +(something)@gmail.com
Edit. I revised this to show EXACTLY what I did. I didn't actually cancel my old account and make a new one as I mentioned before. I assumed that would work the same. Maybe (and perhaps probably) not.
For the above, You can still use the gmail trick to swap primary accounts, so you won't have to keep signing up for new email. Basically you need your primary email, then 2 gmail trick emails ex. Y.email@example.com & Yo.firstname.lastname@example.org
