AMD FX-8350 8-Core / Sabertooth 990FX R2.0, HyperX Red 8GB Module [tigerdirect.com]

Separate prices:
1. AMD FX-8350 8-Core $180 (current SD thread) (Thanks Slomo4shO)
2. Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 AM3+ $185
3. Kingston HyperX Red (1600MHz) 8GB stick $55
--------------------------------------------------------$420

They're basically charging a good price for the CPU + Mobo, then throwing in the 8GB HyperX Red. Good deal for high-end components.

1. See SD thread above for good FX-8350 discussion.

  • Southbridge SB950

When I click on that link I'm sent to a deal for the FX 8320, not 8350.

My sincere apologies .... didn't mean to mislead anybody, and even had it in the cart.
Either getting too old for hirez screens , or need an optorectomy - removal of head from ass. Embarrassment

Hey, it took me two views before I noticed it too :p Though I may have been distracted a little bit by reading about the motherboard... drool

Eh. It still saves money, just not as much.
The 8320 was on sale for $150 a few days ago, and seems to retail for around $170 normally (that's what it is on TD now at least). So using the OPs prices, if you bought it all individually it would cost $410 ($390 if you got the 8320 on sale), vs the bundle at $380. And then you're also getting a 8320 rather than the 8350...

Headroom? For like overclocking or something? I can't speak to that, but at stock speeds the 8350 is faster. Some Anandtech [anandtech.com] review and benchmarks.

You are esseintially paying $15 for the ram after rebate.

I would instead recommend purchasing the FX-8350 separately from TigerDirect and picking up the ASRock 990FX Extreme9 for $160 at newegg.

Pair it with Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory for $40 and you are at the same price point.

Also, as an alternative, theAMD FX-8150 with Liquid Cooling Kit is still available on Newegg for $180

These motherboards a little overkill for me with 3 way SLI. I just need a good reliable motherboard with one PCI E slot, and USB 3. Can anybody recommend one? Also would it make a difference if you put a cheaper PC3 10666 memory here instead of the PC3 12800?
