DEAD/OOS

Was walking though Target yesterday and noticed the Westinghouse 50" LED 1080p 60Hz TV [target.com] was on limited clearance for $299.99 (reg $599.99 previous sales for $499.99)

Talked to the guy at the tech department and while there were none out front he said there were a few in the back and the deal was live (Sawmill Rd/Dublin OH location)

Might be worth checking out to see if other stores had the same offer

Got the last one at NLR, AR. 323 after tax! Went to three stores to find it. Also picked up the Apex 46' led for the same price since I couldn't find anymore of the Westinghouse ones. Thanks OP!

Anyone have any experience with this set? There does not seem to be much out there review wise.

BBB rating is awful and reviews aren't very good.. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/ho...house.html
I may rethink the purchase

I bought a 55" a year ago from Target and I'm really happy with it. I'm not a TV guru by any stretch but to me the picture is great and it hasn't given me any trouble. It is a bit bulky, but that wasn't an issue for me.

Thank you OP! I got one at the Target in Wylie, TX. There was one more left. The sign was still marked $599, but it rang up as $299. I bought the Target extended warranty for $29 for a 3 year warranty. Bought on my redcard for a total of $338. Wondering if the extended warranty is necessary?

For the price for the extended warranty I would say, good deal and smart choice.

The price makes this really tempting. Is this a decent TV?

I bought a 46" Westinghouse 16 months ago. Worked great for 13 months. Now there's a backlight that's out and on occasion a few close to it will be out. 12 month manufacturer's warranty. Be glad you picked up the warranty. Well worth it.
As for Westinghouse. Simple features are slim. You have to activate the tuners with a code from online. It changes the clock constantly. You have to point remotes EXACTLY at the base of the tv for them to work. Minor things that begin to bug you after you've used a more quality set (Samsung). My advice: Buy it if you're broke or putting it in your bedroom. If you want use it a lot, show it off, or are some kind of videophile...spend the extra money on a nicer tv.

I thought Westinghouse was not a reliable brand.

Is it even worth spending money?

Will local stores with them in stock price match other stores that still have them? Can anyone share where they're still available? Thanks!

Target's Protection Plan is worth it. When I bought my TV from them they told me short of stabbing the box with scissors with the TV inside (which I guess has happened) they will fix or replace the item over the length of the warranty.

A store manager just told me "if you knock it over, break it in a move, or spill a drink on it, it is covered" when I bought my TV from Target with the 3 year warranty.
