I searched and did not find this, please correct me if I am wrong. SwiftUnlocks is having a promotion to promote their petition at the whitehouse.gov [whitehouse.gov] petition website. Follow these directions:

1. Go to http://www.signunlockpetition.com
2. Follow the 3 STEPS
3. Please read terms & conditions
4. USE REFERRAL CODE: SWIFTUNLOCKS and REQUEST UNLOCK

Should take about 1-2 days to have your phone unlocked. They need about 25K more signatures.

As you guys all know, unlocking is going to be illegal in USA. There is an online petition which will help our cause to fight back. Lets fight back and have this new DMCA overturned.

In order to give incentive to our customers and citizens of this country, we are offering ONE FREE AT&T IPHONE UNLOCK (will takes 1-2 DAYS). You can pass this word around to friends, family, classmates etc.

it's already illegal, it's not "going to be". i dont care whatever they promised you, they just can't unlock any phones that are illegal to unlock now. if they can unlock those phones, it's because they are legally unlockable. you can sign the petition all you want, but you can't do against it to protest it while it's already signed into law.

How will we know when our phones are unlocked? I just did it. Kind of in the wrong order. Hope that didn't matter. I asked for unlock first, then I signed the petition.
When I submitted my info it said I would be notified of the unlock by email within 24hrs.
Thanks OP.

Looks like the petition isn't going to meet the signature goal. Still 25k needed and only 5 days left. I thought the phone community would be all over this and fulfilled this a long time ago... please sign!!

i believe it is only illegal to unlock phones purchased after January 26th, 2013.

Ummmm unlocking already is illegal in the US. Happened some time last month. And the penalty is $500k+5 years to $1m+10 years. Sooo...something is up.

Btw if you have a phone bought prior to whenever the law went into effect, you can still have it unlocked by a non-carrier entity.
