This ordeal is like a fire tempering a sword. It's making chewy even tougher. If he got leprosy and his arm fell off, he'd beat the shit out of a bear, dip his stump in lemon juice and sew it back on with his good hand.
This video is fun and educational at the same time. It's 90 seconds of Joe Biden telling everyone to fire a double-barrel shotgun into the air if your home is being invaded, followed by clips of people actually firing a shotgun.
It's also educational because it shows why I say shotguns are overrated especially for women. Well, besides what's in this video, shotguns are overrated for other reasons too.
If NY or someone wants to take away everything except your shotgun, the following might be the result.
Is Biden really advocating firing warning shots into the air?
This is illegal in many (probably most) jurisdictions, and could wind up with innocent people killed or injured. What goes up must come down, right?
Yes, yes he is. Very reckless and dangerous and illegal in most areas. I also hear he lives near a school.
Not only that, she now has an empty firearm, temporary deafness & blindness from the muzzle blasts, and signaled the bad guy exactly where she is.
Did you know that up until 1934 anyone could walk into their local hardware store and buy a machine gun off the shelf?....
…Why is any of this important to current proposals? Every time these laws were past, they claimed "this will stop crime". And when it didn't they just came back for more regulations. That's what they are trying now, gun bans, magazine limits, & background checks/registration. They are throwing so much crap out hoping something will pass.
Besides, "Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the gun."
A little late, but to support your argument, you only have to look at the Piers Morgan lovers (like the rouge cop in South California…) favorite country to compare to: Britain.
They love to point out that gun-violence murder is extremely low compared to the US. And if you let them define and stop the argument there, it can be a hard counter-argument to make. Until you look at the overall effect. Britain has been dealing with arms-control ever since the first feudal king was worried about revolts from the peasants (civilians in todays world). If one looks at the last 100 years in Britain, there has been a steady progress of gun-control laws passed. They even went as far as to regulate air-guns (bb-guns). And today there are advocacy groups calling on a ban on large kitchen knives (chef knifes) due to the rising stabbing crimes. Note: the overall gun-death rate over the last 100 years has gradually increase, not decreased, despite all the laws. In addition, the overall violent-crime in Britain is about 3-times what it is here in the US. Gun-control didn’t take away the bad people; it just gradually made them use different tools. It is much harder now for 110lb woman to defend herself against a 200lb intruder.
So I would say to them do you want to spend the next 100 years trying to control inanimate objects that could be used just as easily to defend one-self? Should we go back to using swords and clubs? If you are really worried about stopping violent behavior, can we not keep trying something that has been shown to not work, and try focusing on root causes?
