same issue last time ..they provide the code via phone. but somewhere some dealer used the code
yes it very difficult to flip the code for money on ebay/else
I found it rathe easy to cash it on eBay. I listed two for $54 last time and both sold in 24 hours.

Have been debating on the Nexus but never ordered. How good is this phone? I'm doing the $50 Tmobile no contract. Use very little data. Just hoping for decent coverage as many say their prepaid towers suck compared to post paid plans. Not sure I buy that. Thoughts on this phone?

Don't know about the phone, but i just switched from att to tmobile this year and so far my service is pretty nonexistent most of the day. If i am home, i would be lucky to get 2 bars. At work, ill get 1 or 2 bars. Never had full bars after almost 2 months of service. According to tmobiles coverage chart, i should have good service but i don't. I don't really use the phone but anyways so its not that big of deal yet.

With the $50 refill card?
Someone in another Lg Optimus L9 thread mentioned it. Something about 20% the whole purchase when you buy a T-Mobile Prepaid phone with a $50 refill card. Works out to about the same deal.

i had that problem last summer. I spent many many hours trying to get it to work, but not even T-mobile reps could figure it out. I had to go in store to buy my phones...

I have this phone and its great. Unbelievable value at $200, let alone $150. I get between 10 and 13 mb download speed with this thing in des moines iowa. its very smooth and the size of the screen is great. I debated buying the nexus 4 instead, but the non removable battery, no sd card slot and the annoying back-home-settings buttons (that reduce screen size) on the nexus were too much to look past. I have nothing bad to say about it except that it 'feels' cheap. it is very, very light. The battery cover is a flexible plastic. My prior phone was a MyTouch 4g. that thing was really well made. I'm on the value plan with my family. 3 lines with unlimited minutes, texts and 2gb data plus an additional line without data for $110 a month. unlimited 4g is an additional $8 per month, but i've never gone over 2gb.

Code. Basically, I asked buyer's phone number, and I top-up their account with my card (by calling T-mobile's automated number)

Very happy with mine, but I was fortunate enough to get one before they updated to unrootable firmware. Bootloader is locked and phone in its current state is unrootable, which is incredibly unfortunate because the phone has enormous potential.

4gb internal storage (with only about 2GB free) that cannot install apps to external SD without root. Fairly fatal flaw if you want to play some of the bigger games (like the Need for Speed game that is over 2GB and by itself is too large for the phone if you can't root it).

Fortunately I don't have to worry about that. Mine is rooted, set up for external SD, and overclocked to 1.3 Ghz. Thing is light as a feather, nice screen, great battery. Not much ROM development yet, unfortunately, but there are scripts out there (that don't even require root) that can disable all the bloatware.

Great phone at stock, could be an AMAZING deal if the developer community can get behind it (and get around its locked bootloader/unrootable latest firmware). LG seriously needs to fix the external storage situation if they're not going to let people root the phone.

I know it happens, but I've yet to understand why people spend more for stuff on ebay than they could buy online or instore for cheaper. Any idea why?Confused

The L9 is not a bad phone at all. If you are able to get the Nexus 4 and price isn't a significant issue, I would go with the Nexus. The phone is better in every way performance wise. On the other hand if you want something to do basic smart phone functions with then this isn't a bad choice as it is pretty snappy for a mid range Android smartphone.

I have this L9 phone as well as Samsung S3 and nexus 4.... I have to say it is every bit as good, except the followings - I actually think it is good enough for the most part.

1) the battery run down 10-15% faster than S3, but same as N4
2) the overall speed of things are 10-15% slower compare to S3 or N4 (just a bit choppy)
3) the SD card only go up to 32GB, S3 can go up to 64GB, N4 do not support adding memory card
4) HSPA is 21mbps, while S3 and N4 is like 42mbps (but I never get anything above 10mbps for real)
5) no auto brightness control - this is one of the main draw back I feel... I used to have this on iphone and S3/N4.....

For the money, it is a great phone!! I can live with #1-4, but in a bit of pain with #5.....I use it on post paid plan and I unlocked it for international travel. Sold my S3 and N4 and wait for S4 etc (if I have the money to buy it).

Idk. biggest mystery of eBay. Like when people pay more than what's worth for gift cards.
I have no idea. Maybe because it's a hassle (for some) to cash PayPal money out..
