Relationship Help

151 21 February 19, 2013 at 07:25 PM in Chat (2)
It has been a while since I've been in a relationship with someone, like four years. I met a girl online via online dating site and really thought I hit it off. She's attractive and has an interesting personality. I got her number last night and we've been communicating since then. Two questions:
I asked if she wanted to meet, response: "Maybe Smilie"
How am I supposed to take that? Good/bad?

Also, earlier when we first met, she mentioned she's not the best at asking questions (ain't that the truth). So, I've been asking her some questions and been getting one word answers in return. Is this good/bad/neutral?

I don't want to screw this relationship up. Advice please?

Women on online dating services get about 50 responses to your 1. So she is playing the field. Imagine answering 50 emails or more a day.

An acquaintance of mine went onto the dating service sites (all the major ones) for one reason and one reason only; sex. He found that talking nasty (not real bad but being very suggestive) to the girls was the way to get to what he wanted. When he was "nice" he got nothing at all. Usually not even a response. He slept with about 6 or 7 girls over a month period. His best week was 4 different girls. He kept the "best" ones on the hook and sees them when he needs to from time to time. It only took on average about 2 "real" dates to get to that point. Oh and he is married. Most didn't care.
Classy.

Two years and and douchenozzle cheats on me? I'd probably have some choice nicknames myself. I don't think that really indicates anything, except having been hurt by them.

Remember, he brought up the question about her past relationships.

I don't know what to think. By the way, she doesn't drive. That's why it's difficult for her to meet (I'm guessing).

Is it because she doesn't have a car or because she doesn't have a license?

It was probably suspended after (s)he broke the restraining order one too many times.

That, or it's a dude that just wants to sext with a male college freshman.

Doesn't have a license. She's 18 but her parents don't allow her to get a license. Not the best relationship with them.

If a female you met online isn't willing to meet you within 2 weeks of first contact move on.

Uhhh... Beg to differ.

OP, IMO give it a chance meeting someone at school. I'm not saying the online way can't work but I will say the girl you're talking to sounds like she may be a pain in the ass. If she can't give you a yes or no on just meeting..........WTF? And the stuff about her ex seems to be alot of info to give you when you have not even gone out on a date yet. Who knows what her ex really did. Sluts? Really? You have to wonder what kind of person says these things to strangers - it just sounds skeev and lame.

I'm not trying to be mean....just honest. You sound like a decent guy. I think you can do way better than that! nod

Make plans this weekend, tell her she is welcomed to join, and then back off. Full court press will get you nothing.

Just to put it out there, my cousin is getting married to a guy she met online this summer. It can work, just usually doesn't. And thanks. Smilie

What's the point of doing that? Edit: nevermind. How does this sound?
"I have plans to go to ______ (it's a buffet, remember when I mentioned that earlier? Wink) this weekend. You're welcome to join me, if you wish. Let me know."
