Someone posted about this computer before, but I don't know if they realize you can use the new $75 Staples coupon to knock the price down to $265 + tax....I thought I had better alert some people who want to get a great deal on this computer. Here's the link to the computer at Office Depot.....I just picked one up at my local OD here in Nashville

http://www.officedepot.com/a/prod...uter-With/

here's a link to the coupon.

Windows 8 stores the key in the bios, you don't need the key and will never get one on a OEM installed copy... Licensing on 8 sucks. If your laptop goes in for repairs and the MB is replaced you will get a new key. but the new key is NOT transferable. (IE you sell it your suppose to delete windows) but it IS transferable if the original motherboard is still in the laptop. This applies to PC's too.

MS can, and does screw up wet dreams.

WRONG! MS will set you straight when you call.

Windows 8 no longer uses stickers on OEM installed copies. The key is in the bios.
oh wow... that sucks haha

Went to another OD in the area and was shut down. What would you rate this laptop at the price without the coupon for non gaming usage?

Yay! I got two lol. There were four in stock at the store nearest my house and I brought my wife so we could both score one since the deal was one per person. The manager only wanted to do $75 off total for both computers, but I had printed off two coupons and told him my wife counts as another customer and if we ring up the computers as separate transactions then I should be able to use a $75 off coupon for both computers. He reluctantly agreed lol. Also there is no sales tax in MT. Double win!

Exactly, Staples is $499 AR, but OD is $379 AR then $75 coupon is $305. I'm really contemplating it.
What are you thinking about it? What's making you hesitate? As for me, this would be a laptop for my Dad. 65yrs old, the 17" is a HUGE plus. He would only use it to surf the web and stream videos to watch live. He does that A LOT. No gaming.

I got the exact same model (G580) except with a i3-3110m instead of a i3-3120m. Whats the difference? It was on clearance for $10 cheaper ($329.92)

I am learning how to use Win 8 lol, might gonna upgrade it to Pro version. I heard it is a little bit tricky if you wanna downgrade back to Win7.

from my understanding you gotta do a clean install and install the ethernet and wireless card drivers.. dunno if there's more to it, waiting for someone to do it before i do

I think you need a copy of genuine windows 7 as well. It is so annoying that we have to go through all those $hit to downgrade our laptop. MS just doesn't want to admit Win8 is an epic failure ~~
