Thread Details

Vitamix has been selling reconditioned machines for a while, but they just made some new models available. I think these are a great deal, as they come with the standard strong Vitamix warranty, just 5 years instead of 7. If the warranty is an issue for you, you can extend the warranty to 8 years for $75, which is less than the savings. Reconditioned units are tested and repaired if necessary, and come with new containers and tampers.

The 7500 (aka Pro 300) is the new model that they released last year with the shorter/wider pitcher, longer blades, and more powerful/quieter motor. Sells for $529 new.

The 6300 (aka Pro 500) has been around a bit longer and is the same as the older machines except it has preset modes. Vitamix is selling it for $649 new, although Costco sometimes has it for $500.

If you're confused about all the different Vitamix models, check out this page:

If you have an old Vitamix, they'll give you $100 for it with their trade in program:

If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Use Code 06-008426 at the checkout page for Free Shipping ($25 off)

I would like to give you all some insight into the reconditioned units. It took less than a week to get it directly delivered from Vitamix. I used the free shipping code provided in the Wiki (06-008426) and bought the reconditioned 5200.

It arrived today and came with the taper, sealed recipe book with DVD and other information that gives you all kinds of different recipes. The blender container itself is new as well as the taper, in fact everything looks new. The only reconditioned part is the blender unit itself that houses the motor. That part looked like it was never used. The quality for a reconditioned product is superb and if anything ends up broken or defective down the line i still have a 5 yr warranty.

Overall I am really impressed with the reconditioned unit I received. I also checked the back and found it was manufactured in October 2013 (as of January 6th 2013) which is fairly recently. A family member of mine had theirs arrive today as well and told me that hers was dated December 2013 (as of January 6th 2013) so these reconditioned units are pretty new.

Nope. I believe they sell them for a fair bit higher than the official Vitamix Website

One note on Blendtec. I've a Blendtec for 3 years and I'm on my 3rd jar. The jar will leak lubricant from the blade shaft in less than a year and the blender is not being used heavily. The jar has a 3 year warranty so each time I just paid $12 shipping for a replacement. Now the warranty has expired, a new jar is ~$80. Do a search on Blentec jar leaking you'll see I'm not alone. Before I bought my Blendtec I did a lot of reading but no one mentioned the leaking jar. If I've read about this, I'll not get the Blendtec. Hope Blendtec will have a fix for this eventually.......

Wow, you'd think they would resolve a major issue like that.

I bought a refurb Vitamix and so far it's great. One thing I wanted to say though is that while the container is new, the blade inside is refurbished. When Vitamix said new container I assumed it would have new blade as well seeing as how that is part of the actual container. So I thought no part that touched anybody else's food would be touching mine.

Just wanted to clear that up because it is misleading imo.

They send a 'Vitamix Certified Reconditioned' card with my reconditioned blender that states exactly how they refurbish the units and have a checklist of what they do. One of the things mentioned on the list states: "Blade thoroughly sanitized in high-temperature dishwasher and placed in new container".

lol that's what happened to me. My mom purchased one and my mom's friend just recently got hers all because I got mine. Even my girlfriend I live with who was like "WTF u spent how much on a blender?!" always gets upset when we don't make green smoothies in the morning.

I purchased the 5200(Though,. mine is labled "Creations"). The blades were not too bad, but as soon as I got it I did notice a little discoloring on the blade logo.

I just bought a Blendtec total blender from costco for 329 + tax with 8 yrs warranty. They are selling vitamix 5200 and 6300 for $374 and $499 respectively, each with 7 yrs warranty.

Anyway, 5 yr warranty on a refurbished stuff is not bad. If an item works for a year, it means it has been reconditioned well.
