Thread Details

Vitamix has been selling reconditioned machines for a while, but they just made some new models available. I think these are a great deal, as they come with the standard strong Vitamix warranty, just 5 years instead of 7. If the warranty is an issue for you, you can extend the warranty to 8 years for $75, which is less than the savings. Reconditioned units are tested and repaired if necessary, and come with new containers and tampers.

The 7500 (aka Pro 300) is the new model that they released last year with the shorter/wider pitcher, longer blades, and more powerful/quieter motor. Sells for $529 new.

The 6300 (aka Pro 500) has been around a bit longer and is the same as the older machines except it has preset modes. Vitamix is selling it for $649 new, although Costco sometimes has it for $500.

If you have an old Vitamix, they'll give you $100 for it with their trade in program:

If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Use Code 06-008426 at the checkout page for Free Shipping ($25 off)

I would like to give you all some insight into the reconditioned units. It took less than a week to get it directly delivered from Vitamix. I used the free shipping code provided in the Wiki (06-008426) and bought the reconditioned 5200.

It arrived today and came with the taper, sealed recipe book with DVD and other information that gives you all kinds of different recipes. The blender container itself is new as well as the taper, in fact everything looks new. The only reconditioned part is the blender unit itself that houses the motor. That part looked like it was never used. The quality for a reconditioned product is superb and if anything ends up broken or defective down the line i still have a 5 yr warranty.

Overall I am really impressed with the reconditioned unit I received. I also checked the back and found it was manufactured in October 2013 (as of January 6th 2013) which is fairly recently. A family member of mine had theirs arrive today as well and told me that hers was dated December 2013 (as of January 6th 2013) so these reconditioned units are pretty new.

Reconditioned units come with all new stuff. The motor is the only reconditioned part and is literally like new anyway so it is still the best deal out there for a Vitamix.
New units have 2 more years on the warranty.... Some people might care some might not

Just an FYI it looks like the price of the recon second gen unit just jumped to 419.

Keep in mind you can get a Creations Elite (aka Pro 300) brand new from QVC for 479, and my local Costco store has the 5200 (blender only) for 379.

Like I stated earlier in the thread, that is not true. The blade is also reconditioned/used. The container is new, but the blade that goes in the container is used. They put it in some sort of high-heat steam cleaner to sanitize, then put it in a new container.

They may as well be new because the units are returned during the 30 day money back period which are more than likely used only a couple of times

Who knows how many times they've gotten a return and replaced it with the same blade? It's not guaranteed that a person who bought a refurbished unit, keeps it. They could send it back as well. So the blades don't stricktly come from new units necessarily. They could also come from returned refurbs.

The available units on the Reconditioned page has now added 2 new models!!! Included now is the Next Generation Programs (Professional Series 750), which has 5 Presets. I was just told two days ago by the rep I spoke with on the phone that they do NOT sell them reconditioned. *SIGH*

If its any consolation, the price on the stainless refurb is within 20 of the same one brand new from JL Hufford. Since you seemingly cant get the ruby or onyx anywhere else anymore ("limited edition"), the apples to apples comparison makes the refurb deal pretty "meh".

See my reply above. Unless you can get the recon black or red in stock, the stainless price is within 20 of brand new from JL Hufford (since Vitamix charges an extra 50 for the recon 750 in stainless)

Well at least its in stock. Still a steal at that price, especially with free shipping code on the wiki. I am really eyeing that 750 pro with presets. Anyone have one? Would love to hear your input.

Does anyone know where you can actually BUY one of the low profile 64 ounce canisters with the wet blade? They sell the low profile containers on the new units but they only sell the tall 64 ounce containers on the vitamix websites.

I don't think you can right now. The low profile containers are new and my guess is when they do come up for sale they will most likely be on the Vitamix website first.

They aren't that new, as I remember reading about them back last December when I was looking for a replacement container for my old Super 3600 Vitamix as my metal container was leaking. I remember reading all about the different blades and the different old models and what would be compatible for mine. I had to convert the blades to a new style but used an adapter so it would work on my 3600 motor base. At that time I remember the shorter 64 ounce container for newer Vitamix models.

Fast forward 6-7 months and I am considering a new or refurb unit but would love a second smaller container.

I can't imagine Vitamix wouldn't be trying to fill demand as everyone that knows there is a shorter container that will fit under a cabinet, is wanting one over the other super tall 64 ounce canister.

Considering the price they charge for the containers they'd probably get up to $150 a pop for them. Maybe I should shut up now and not give them ideas, as I still want to get the shorter 64ounce replacement container for +$50 like some in this thread have gotten before.

Maybe they want to keep the containers exclusive to the new units?

I ordered a white Pro 300 model last Tuesday (July 16) and it hasn't shipped yet. Has anyone had his/her recent order shipped?
