Thread Details

Vitamix has been selling reconditioned machines for a while, but they just made some new models available. I think these are a great deal, as they come with the standard strong Vitamix warranty, just 5 years instead of 7. If the warranty is an issue for you, you can extend the warranty to 8 years for $75, which is less than the savings. Reconditioned units are tested and repaired if necessary, and come with new containers and tampers.

The 7500 (aka Pro 300) is the new model that they released last year with the shorter/wider pitcher, longer blades, and more powerful/quieter motor. Sells for $529 new.

The 6300 (aka Pro 500) has been around a bit longer and is the same as the older machines except it has preset modes. Vitamix is selling it for $649 new, although Costco sometimes has it for $500.

If you have an old Vitamix, they'll give you $100 for it with their trade in program:

Use Code 06-008426 at the checkout page for Free Shipping ($25 off)

I would like to give you all some insight into the reconditioned units. It took less than a week to get it directly delivered from Vitamix. I used the free shipping code provided in the Wiki (06-008426) and bought the reconditioned 5200.

It arrived today and came with the taper, sealed recipe book with DVD and other information that gives you all kinds of different recipes. The blender container itself is new as well as the taper, in fact everything looks new. The only reconditioned part is the blender unit itself that houses the motor. That part looked like it was never used. The quality for a reconditioned product is superb and if anything ends up broken or defective down the line i still have a 5 yr warranty.

Overall I am really impressed with the reconditioned unit I received. I also checked the back and found it was manufactured in October 2013 (as of January 6th 2013) which is fairly recently. A family member of mine had theirs arrive today as well and told me that hers was dated December 2013 (as of January 6th 2013) so these reconditioned units are pretty new.

I use my Blendtec more than my Vitamix...in fact I'm thinking about selling it and getting a dehydrator.

I bought the Blendtec Costco deal today. The biggest negative I see anywhere with the Blendtec is no Taper for think items like nut butter. The twister jar is supposed to fix that.

So...with Costco backing I have zero worries. I debated a while about getting a Vitamix from Costco and if I liked it returning it to Costco to get the better deal with the refurbished unit.

I will have to wait and see how much I use the blentec and how happy I am with it before I move on and pay about 200 dollars more even considering Vitamix is reconnditioned.

The lack of taper had me going towards Vitamix in the end. It just feels better quality when comparing the two as well.

Anyone get a dry grains container and have opinions on it?

Also planning on trying soup for the first time. I just let the broth warm up for a few minutes then put veggies in at the last minute?

I bought the dry grains container recently during their $50 off sale around Black Friday. So far I've only used it a couple times to grind rice into rice flour and it handled the task excellently.

I have never made a soup that used Vitamix from start to end so I can't comment on that.
