Vitamix has been selling reconditioned machines for a while, but they just made some new models available. I think these are a great deal, as they come with the standard strong Vitamix warranty, just 5 years instead of 7. If the warranty is an issue for you, you can extend the warranty to 8 years for $75, which is less than the savings. Reconditioned units are tested and repaired if necessary, and come with new containers and tampers.

The 7500 (aka Pro 300) is the new model that they released last year with the shorter/wider pitcher, longer blades, and more powerful/quieter motor. Sells for $529 new.

The 6300 (aka Pro 500) has been around a bit longer and is the same as the older machines except it has preset modes. Vitamix is selling it for $649 new, although Costco sometimes has it for $500.

Yea I was talking about the Blendtec. BUT the store clerk did offer to override and allow me to use the coupon on a Vitamix that they had in stock. So clearly it's YMMV.

I would like to give you all some insight into the reconditioned units. It took less than a week to get it directly delivered from Vitamix. I used the free shipping code provided in the Wiki (06-008426) and bought the reconditioned 5200.

It arrived today and came with the taper, sealed recipe book with DVD and other information that gives you all kinds of different recipes. The blender container itself is new as well as the taper, in fact everything looks new. The only reconditioned part is the blender unit itself that houses the motor. That part looked like it was never used. The quality for a reconditioned product is superb and if anything ends up broken or defective down the line i still have a 5 yr warranty.

Overall I am really impressed with the reconditioned unit I received. I also checked the back and found it was manufactured in October 2012 which is fairly recently. A family member of mine had theirs arrive today as well and told me that hers was dated December 2012 so these reconditioned units are pretty new.

I have attached a picture of what was included and will add this post to the wiki. If you have any other questions about the blender just ask.

How are you getting to choose the model #? The link takes me to a selection page where I can pick a color (White, Black, Blue, Red), but the text says:

"Certified Reconditioned Next Generation blenders may reflect one of the following labels: 7500, Professional Series 300, or Creations Elite."

If you look on the product page for the Professionals, the only color is Brushes Stainless.

I'm somewhat confused here.....

Because between those 3 models there are various color options. They essentially are the same blender under the hood so to speak.

you're right. I did not order the 7500. I ordered the Next Generation (the $399 one) of which the 7500 is one of the 3 possible models I will be receiving. the other 2 being the pro 300 and creations elite. I asked for a black one. my shipment is out for delivery so I'll let you know later which one I got.

update: i got the 7500 and to me it looks brand new.

from their website.

We have had both a vitamin and a blendtec. My wife swears by the blendtec.

Sent from Slickdeals App for iPhone & iPod Touch.
I own both vitamix and blentec and the blectec is better hands down. The biggest difference is that vitamix "shoots the food up " while blentec "sucks the food down" and provides a much faster and even blend

I've been looking for a good deal on Vitamix blenders for a bit and it seems their reconditioned models are the best deals right now with a free shipping code. Their reconditioned models are actually a pretty good value it seems because they come with a 5 yr warranty and can be upgraded to 8 years for $75 and you can save hundreds depending on the model you get for reconditioned over new.

Use code 06-008426 at checkout to get free standard shipping (They charge $25 for shipping so its a decent savings)

The Models

The 7500 (also known as the Pro 300) is the new model that they released last year with the shorter/wider pitcher, longer blades, and more powerful/quieter motor. Sells for $529 new.

The 5200 (Pro 200) is the standard model and has been around for awhile. It is same as the 6300 except it doesn't have preset modes. Sells for about $449 new.

For those of you who arent familiar, Vitamix's are the best blenders out there. My friend has one and in all honesty I find nothing compares to them when it comes to what they can do and how smooth they make smoothies and drinks. This is the blender professional chefs and restaurants use. This thing can heat up soups, make ice cream or sorbert, frozen drinks, smoothies, and green shakes (with raw veggies and fruit) and a ton of other things and are built to last over a decade.
I didn't know about the trade in program, Thanks
Hopefully my 5 year old 5200 will keep on chugging for a while though Roll

So I just saw the Blendtec built-in countertop and it looks friggin awesome. I have expensive Caesarstone counters, so I'm not sure if I would want to cut a huge hole in it, but it got me thinking:

1.) Can you build the Vitamix 7500/300 into a countertop?
2.) Which Blendtec would be comparable to the Vitamix listed above?
3.) What separates one company from the other?
They both seem to get great reviews, long warranties, excellent support. So what makes one high-end blender better than another?

For all of you vitamix vs blendtec people. I thought I'd share one of the most informative reviews on both of their top of the line models.

Watching it kind of makes me wish I upgraded to the higher end model for more convenience with the preset options.

I bought my Blendtec a little over a month ago. While I do love it, there are some pros and cons that aren't typical to the reviews I've read online.

Pros:
-Powerful
-Easy Clean Up
-Great consistency
-Pre-Programmed Settings

Cons:
-Super loud! Not the motor itself, but the jar. I understand blender motors make a lot of noise, not a problem. But maybe I have a defective jar. When I put it on the base and turn it on (with nothing inside the jar) it sounds like ice crushing.

-Unstable. The base and jar move around like crazy during any cycle. I read that this is also somewhat normal, but mine seems to 'jump' around.

-Doesn't do frozen as well as advertised. Trying to make ice cream it seemed like I was going to burn out the motor. This is due to the cavity (pocket of air) that forms where the blades are. Typically you wouldn't need a tamper /plunger like Vitamix, but in this case one would definitely come in handy.

I contacted Blendtec yesterday about the noise and they told me to give them a call for troubleshooting. I might just exchange it at Costco for a new unit and see if it does the same, but I'm considering the Vitamix Pro 300 too. It just costs more and has 3 less years of warranty.

I thought it was the opposite. After my Blendtec cycles all of my food is up on the lid. Vitamix's look like they funnel downward.
