Didn't see anything in the wiki about this. Can anyone confirm this?

Can we qualify for $30 of ink/toner purchases by using rewards? Or does it have to be out-of-pocket expense? I have some ink to recycle and some rewards to use.
IOW, do rewards roll? No, they don't, so you cannot use rewards as part of the $30 minimum OOP. Nor coupons or discounts that bring the OOP below $30.

Just read through everything on Staples' site. Doesn't state anything about using rewards. They normally state coupons, rewards and other discounts but for the $30 it does not state you can't use the rewards.

Rewards are a discount to the purchase price just like coupons. It does state net in one of their documents/citations.

Yes, and it is 7 days. It is detailed in very fine print on pages 4-5 of the weekly ad for this week. You will most likely have to contact rewards for the double credit as any order today will not ship until Monday which is outside the promo period which ends today.

Staples gift cards are cash equivalents but can only be used in-store and not online. If you want to use a Staples gift card for an online only item you need to do a kiosk order and pay at the register with the Staples gift card(s).

Thanks for the confirm. You are always helpful in Staples thread worship

Since there is no time limit for ink return, do you think whether I can return it after 6 months and keep all my rewards :p

Ink and Toner Cartridges

Unopened and unexpired ink or toner cartridges, currently carried in our U.S. Stores, may be returned at any time for a full refund.

They'll debit you rewards and put you at a negative balance as far as I've heard

You can return up until the ink/toner expires. You need a receipt to get the full refund. People have returned ink months later and had any rewards earned for the ink purchase deducted from their rewards account. Not sure if that always happens but it can happen and has happened.

If I place an online order for ink and a few other items with a non-specific coupon (such as $25 off $75), will the coupon discount get apportioned properly to each item based on % or is there a risk it would be over-weighted toward the ink which could reduce my ink purchase below $30? If it does get screwed up, can it be fixed pretty readily by calling the rewards #?
P.S. Sorry if this has been asked and answered a million times before.

Proration of any coupons/rewards is proportional to the price of an item divided by the total purchase amount. E.g. item is $15. Total purchase is $25. Coupon is $10. 60% of the $10 coupon or $6 reduces the spend on the ink by $6 making it $9 net for rewards calculations as $15/$25 is 60% of the total purchase.

I assume there is no issue with meeting the $30 minimum spend requirement over more than one transaction whether or not on the same day. For example, if I were to spend $20 in ink purchases one week and $10 in a subsequent week, I would meet the minimum spend requirement after I made my 2nd purchase but my 180 days would track based on the date of my first purchase. Is that how it would work?

A couple of days ago I would have said that should work. Now I am not so sure. Couple of posts back someone had purchased less than $30 of ink before 3/15 and some after 3/15 adding to > $30 and did not get their ink carts qualified. Now one purchase was before the new program and one was after but still. Those who purchased $30 of ink before 3/15 and recycled after had their carts qualified. It may require $30 of ink in one shot. Not entirely sure anymore.

Okay, so it may be a problem to combine purchases or it may be a problem to combine them if one was a pre transition purchase. I guess no one has reported being able to recycle based on 2 cumulative pre 3/15 purchases or based on 2 post 3/15 purchases.
