Starting march 15th there's going to be a change in the rewards program. Nrw changes include 5% rewards on all items and also you must purchase $30 in ink every 180 days to get recycling rewards.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Just did my own chat on the Ink recycling before the 3/15 Program change. Up til the 14th we are still under the old Program; get those inkls in before the 14th to get rewards without buying $30 worth of ink

Quote from chat:
Initial Question/Comment: Hello, I am trying to figure out this new recycling program. I just recycled my inks for this month and need to know if I am under the old program or do the rules of the new program (3/15/13 )already apply & I now have to buy $30 in ink before this latest reward is posted to my Premiere rewards account
12:19:37 PM : Rachel: Hi Premiere Customer. As the new program does not go into effect until March 15, anything done prior to that date will remain under the current program.

If the double/double deal is true, and you can indeed recycle up to 10 (or 20 for premier) cartridges, for those buying HP Ink, there is a $15 shell gift card if you buy $99 in ink:

http://www.iteminfo.com/ItemInfoF...-99buy.pdf

Just did a chat and got this from the rep,
Quote :
• $30 ink recycling minimum spend. Customers qualify for ink and toner recycling Rewards when they spend $30 or more on ink or toner within 180 days of recycling their cartridges. Once the minimum spend is met, which can be done over multiple purchases, they will be eligible to receive $2 back up to their monthly limit.
I'm attaching a scan of something that printed out with my ink recycling receipt this morning, spelling out the changes to the program. In a nutshell, it involves buying $30 in ink or toner every 180 days. Can still recycle 10 carts per month for a base or plus customer or 20 for a premier customer. Also posted this in post #430, in case it disappears from the wiki.

Another interesting note: Seems like you have to be a plus or premier member to be able to recycle ink! "up to 10 per calendar month per Plus customer or up to 20 per calendar month per Premier customer" - Incorrect. Both Base and Plus customers can recycle 10/month. See my entry above this and the 2nd attachment on this wiki (or post 430).

I think the real question is "whether or not the ink recycle from 03/01-03/14 required $30 toner/ink purchase in order to get the reward on April?"
Can anyone confirm with Staples Rewards CSR? and update the wiki?

Spend $120/year to keep $480 in Rewards. 5% on the $1k spend (minimum) we are all doing anyway will offset $50 of that cost. $2,400 for break even. Shouldn't be an issue for most of us to hit $2,400/year. Could be worse I suppose.

ETA - actually, could be better. I'm sure most of us exceed $2,400/year, so it will mean more Rewards in the end.
True for premiers. All we need is $2400 spend and some love from Trend Micro, Visa and MC Big Grin

Edit: On the other hand, let's all blame ourselves for discussing the rapes on Staples publicly. EFF that, blame mathfaster/Sherlock. lol. I am sure someone from Staples' is always reading threads on here.

I am assuming you own a business
Nope. It just sounds like a lot, but spending $2,400+ at Staples really only means you spent about $10 OOP. And that $10 was probably for the one thing you actually needed. laugh out loud

Force you to buy $30 ink every 90 days? something does not makes sense. Will have to wait for official update. Sometimes Managers spew BS!
Same thing when I went in today, the one tech manager I know gave me a heads up and said very something similar, might be every 3 or 6 month you have to buy ink, 6 months for premier?

You buy =or>$50 of HP ink and you will get 20% back in Rewards and $4 per each empty ink cartridge you recycle the same day in-store or within 7 days for online purchase.

First, they did away with the $25 off $75, now this. So long Staples. Nice knowing you.*

*Actually, it wasn't all that nice anyway. Every Staples manager near me has been a complete douchebag.

Thats why I bought those 3 clearanced storage sheds at HD, so I could park my car inside. The sheds are for Staples stuff mostly. I think my staples arm extends to most people within the town I live in. The school gets a crap ton for free. No, this can't be happening. I don't want to see Stuples wise up, its heart wrenching. Boo Hoo... FrownFrownFrown
so in the end, how much did you save, after cost of sheds ? Big Grin

They still have $25/75 coupons but they're online/phone-only now. I get them a couple times/month,

First I'll wait to see it officially posted. There have been rumors there were big changes coming in March. Maybe this is it. IF you can't make $30 on MM deal(s) per quarter you are not slick.Big Grin Now, what type of ink they talking? HP or all brands? If any brand, I'll be getting a Brother J430W and buying generic ink and selling the $30 ink I have to buy every quarter. This is a PITA requirement but I'm sure we will all figure out a way to game it to death.Wink Else we aren't slick.

I have been too lazy to recycle ink carts and just found a bag of about 50 of them when cleaning out my garage. They are ~5-6 years old LOL

Just when I'm about to jump into the staples $2 ink recycling, it gets changed. FML.
