I just saw on Southwest Airline's site that the 50K Chase Premier credit card offer is back. There is a $99 annual fee that is not waived, but the 50K points are worth about $833 and they're good towards the very valuable companion pass (110K points needed in a year).

You should be able to get this card if you had the Plus card ($69 annual fee) before as they're considered different products.

Does anyone know how long it takes for Southwest RR Status to change?

I got the 50,000 points from the Plus card offer posted in my account, but my status has not changed to A-List yet?
The points do not go towards A-List. The points do however go towards Companion.

Also, the status change is automatic as soon as points post. I was watching my account waiting for statement date for one of the cards, which was yesterday. As soon as the points posted, I was able to add information for my companion on the RR site. Whee Good until 12-31-14.

Lots of factors to take into account. Simply closing an account will not necessarily lower your score, especially not a 30 point knock. Credit to debit ratio can be affected if you have high balances or if you have few cards with low credit lines. I closed 2 accounts and my score increased slightly.
Correct Finnerson. Previous post you replied to was not correct at all and shouldn't even have been posted. Good job Smilie

My mom has the plus card with the $69 annual fee. If I understand the posts here it appears that she can get this card in addition to her other card. Would she need to have both cards linked to the same rewards account or does she need to have two separate southwest rewards accounts? Thank you.
Same RR account.

Would I still be approved if I already/currently have the Plus card, and also two other Chase cards? (For a total of three) -- or, do they have an automatic exclusion after certain number of accounts?

TIA
I was denied one of the premier cards because I had too much open credit with chase. I called and asked to reduce the credit lines on all of my cards for them, they knocked off 7000 across my other 3 cards, and approved me for a 7000 credit line with the new SW card.

Basically, the final 10k points were free, because I bought slick deals (lots of MacBook Airs, retinas, and iMacs) and resold them at a profit. Even with the annual fee I paid a couple days ago for the card, it was almost like I got paid to receive the CP.

Buy computers + upgrade components + sell on CL or ebay (and now Amazon) = Lots of points + profit.

I would never get a rewards credit card with the intention of achieving the required spend by doing normal purchases. I always make it so that the credit card is just a "points earner". I don't really use CC's that much in general, but I get a ton of points from them.

That's who I send my AP to. Works great.
That's great! I don't think I have the patience to resell things, I also don't think I'd want to risk losing money on it. But, I should be able to get that last 10k some way. Hopefully I can get a business card, I'm just waiting on the personal one to go through so I can get a Southwest Rewards account (I don't have one yet).

So the companion only gets to fly free for one round trip flight, correct?

No they get to fly free for as long as the Companion Pass is valid. I believe you can also change the companion 3 times.

I believe it's unlimited for a year (or in this case until the end of 2014). But they can only fly with you.

Please help with this question. So I applied for the $69 Southwest card December 2012. My points were credited 1/25/13. I just got approved for this card. Does that mean I have a total of 100,000 points towards the Companion pass or do i only have 50,000 points? Thank you for the help.

It should go by the year they were credited, so both should be on this year. There should be a link somewhere to see how many points are currently going towards the companion pass (so it should say 50k for you right now).

Seems to me that the Airtran deal is better - spend $2000 in your first three months, get two free round trip tickets:

Thanks Zero! Yeah I selected Current Year to Date and then Companion Pass Qualifying Points and it shows me January 52,277 and February 3542, so totalling 55819. The new card will add 50,000 more points and then 2,000 points for the spending so I just need 2,189 more points to get companion?

As far as I know, yes! I've never done this before, so I'm new to it too. Pretty exciting if you ask me! bounce

2 cards with 1 rewards account (they can share as long as the cards are in the same name). but if she got the $69 card last year, those RR points on her account will NOT apply towards the companion flights.

Thank you. Smilie
