I found this at Home Depot in Oakbrook, IL, this afternoon:

http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5...ord=643430

Note that this is the same price that HD gets for the 60W equivalent that uses 12.5 watts:

Amazon lists this for $34.05:

http://www.amazon.com/Philips-423...rds=423244

I checked and do not think that this is a repost. I found a thread from last year that got thumbed down when the bulbs were $40. This is closer to the price of similar bulbs, and I haven't found another that puts out this much light while using only 10 watts.

and if you want brighter and CRI, Philips wins out.
If you birghter and CRI are all (or primarily) what you care about, yes.
If warranty, appearance, size, shell temp, shadowing, etc matter - than you need to weigh more carefully before deciding.

Just picked up 12 from the nearby HD. However, the life stated is "22.8 years" versus "27.4 years" in the picture. Rest everything seems identical. Anybody else observe the same , or did I just got handed the wrong model?

Haven't tried the l prize on a dimmer yet. I noticed the 40W white philips buzz more than the 60 watters. This is on a Lutron Maestro CL dimmer. Are you using a LED dimmer?

Not sure what type of dimmer I have. It's already installed when I moved in. Is there an easy way to find out without opening?

Not really without reading the model on the back.

Will check it during the day. Let me know once you tried the L prize on the dimmer if you will notice a buzzing/flickering. Thanks.

Just sub'd it in for a white Philips 60 watt in a chandelier of mine. The light is controlled by a Lutron C-L Maestro dimmer (LED dimmer). The L prize does buzz audibly compared to the 60W "white" version. The L prize also doesn't dim as well towards the bottom end of the range (it turns pink). No flickering but that would be caused by a dimmer not designed to drive LEDs.

I changed a few bulbs out from 40W philips (white) to 60W philips (white) because there was a slight audible buzz on the 40's. The 60's are near silent if not silent depending on how many you use in one lamp. I use the L prize outside where dimming isn't important.

Thanks for confirming that it does buzz. I bought four of the L price for the chandelier in the dining and opened all of them to try. I might return 2 of them and use the remaining 2 in other areas.

I don't have the white one but I do have the yellows (8-watt/40-watt equivalent and 12.5-watt/60-watt equivalent) without any issues. No flickering or buzzing. I also have the Feit 13.5-watt/60-watt equivalent from costco for $4.99 for a couple of days now without issue. But I heard horrible reviews of feit brand in CLF. Not sure about their LED.

Yeah I have trouble trusting any other brand but philips. I have a few of the Cree 6" recessed lamps and those are good. I'm going to be trying the Cree bulbs once they ship to compare their performance to the white philips bulbs.

Yeah I tried the dimmer and the L-prize one doesn't work. It's either on or off. The 800Lumen version i.e. the 12.5W version works fine.

But I am happy with the L-prize. It's 940 Lumens @ 10W and is definitely brighter than the 1 800 lumens @ 12.5W version.

Wished I didn't need to drive so far to get them. : (

Last year I outfitted most of my house with 12.5W AmbientLEDs (all in non-dimming fixtures), but about 6 months in two of them developed a very faint buzz, but no flickering. Switched to mostly L-Prize bulbs several months ago for the brightness boost and they're all silent for now (again, in non-dimming fixtures). I hear the new, non-yellow 11W AmbientLEDs [amazon.com] have superior dimming capabilities, but they're $22 for only 830 lumens.

FWIW, I was chatting with a customer the other day about this LED, he has them all over his house but for one reason, he works for the Rail Road, they subsidized the bulb down to $1! NOW that is a subsidy! Dunno if it can help someone save money, but.....
