Best Buy is blowing these out (retail price was $799.99 so this won't last!). They are no longer available online so you'll have to call your local store to see if they have them in stock still (SKU 2658129). Best of luck on this great deal! (note: you may upgrade the RAM to 8GB and you may use your HDTV as a display since these natively have HDMI. Also may be eligible for free Mountain Lion upgrade if new in box).

I was able to find one at my local Best Buy, but they told me that they would have to remove the Apple display info from it. Anyone else had this done?
if it was used for a display previously, that makes perfect sense. They always clean up computers that were previously used for display.

im going to assume that you did an in store pickup... if you did, then dont upload that receipt. upload the "your order is picked up" email. (apparently the store pick up orders have "headphones" listed under the product and not the apple mac mini...)....

if you did purchase it in stores (not through store pickup), i have no idea,
I did purchase in store as an open box. Has anyone that bought an open box gotten the upgrade to Mountain Lion?

Just snagged demo model for $365.99. Just power cord and Mini. $399 manager adjusted an additional $34 off without me asking.

They had an open box MD387 for $509.00

Did they have to do anything to your Mac before you took it home. I purchased a demo unit as well but was told that they had to remove the display info from it.

They stated they had to wipe the demo info and reinstall the OS but Geek Squad ran a quick test and it had already been reinstalled.

Edit: In case anyone has issues with the BB website showing one Mini in stock...

If there is a Mini showing in inventory but it can't be found in the cages or at an open box endcap, have them check the stock room. Sometimes demo units do not get inventoried for sale as they are taken off the floor.

The process is easy once they find one, just have to re-inventory that particular serial number for sale. Took less than 10 minutes for them to find the Mini and ring it up.

I checked three Best buys around Atlanta: Northlake, Buckhead, and Alpharetta.

Buckhead had the older MC815 model for $538 and would not budge, despite the open box flavor.

Northlake checked but didn't find anything.

Alpharetta had a returned newest model MD387 for $538 and would not budge.

All of this info was gotten in a few minutes over the phone. Unfortunately it appears to be easier to just let it go back to cowboom than to sell it to a customer with cash money for a decent price.

After checking the cowboom pricing cycles it appears the mini went on sale 3 x last year, in March, in May, and in July. I'll have to be alert for the next round in May.

best of luck slickdealers.

I have a quick question.

Does anyone know if the MC816LL/A is running 10.7 or 10.8?

I was able to snag one of the 815 which was display. They sold it to me for $399+tax. Wont give additional 10%. I took it but now i may return it because of the spec on 816 are better than 815.

The one I got is running on 10.8. It did not have iphoto or imovie installed.
