Can someone also post the OEM one and their opinion please? Here it is on Lenovo's website [lenovo.com]. Googling it shows mixed reviews. Thanks in advance. (I'm not sure which to get in regards to comment above). Thanks in advance as well!

Known Issues (and Fixes) - created by jnads
Touchpad not disabling when switching to tablet mode: Re-install the Synaptics driver from the Lenovo website. This is special functionality specifically for this laptop (the driver on the Lenovo site is CUSTOM) and Windows update tends to replace the driver (screwing everything up). I believe you only have to do this once, unless another driver comes out. Alternatively, follow the guide above to install the old driver with the new functionality.

Software keyboard appears, then disappears: Go into Metro and open the Lenovo Companion App. Click the Apps for Ideapad box. Re-install Lenovo Transition. When your device changes states, it will intelligently open the software keyboard as necessary.

Tabet Mode is slow:
-Lenovo under-clocks the processor to 800Mhz in Tablet Mode to keep the heat low. If you don't want this, do one of the following:
-Uninstall Intel Thermal Framework in Remove Programs. Removing this will prevent it from doing that. I haven't done this, so I don't know if it's recommended. I did do the following:
-Alternatively, Hold POWER Down for 10 seconds to COMPLETELY turn off the computer. Start it up and hit F2 to Enter BIOS, switch to 2nd page, disable DPTF, save and exit. I haven't done any benchmarking to verify this works. <--DOES NOT WORK.

C Drive isn't showing all my space:
Lenovo partitions the SSD funky. A 128GB SSD is technically 119GB Usable space. They save 19 GB for a re-install partition (so you can use Lenovo OneKey to wipe the laptop). D drive is a partition to make user-backups (Ghost Images), which is a giant waste.
-Run the partition app up top, which will combine C and D drives. You should get 100GB. I wouldn't re-format the entire drive, because there are still some apps bundled with the laptop that are not on the Lenovo site. There aren't any guides yet for completely reinstalling windows with this laptop.

Touchscreen not working after reboot
There's a fix for that (Touch Screen completely not working after reboot):
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaP...131/page/4

Touchscreen occasionally "misses" an input (i.e. you have to click twice)
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaP...d-p/921359
Quote :
The problem here is either (1) the touch device powers down too quickly, (2) it doesn't power back up fast enough, or (3) a bit of both.

Here's the workaround I used (because this was driving me nuts):

- Open device manager
- Expand Human Interface Devices
At the bottom of the HID list are two devices labeled "USB Input Device" On my system, the one we're concerned with is the second one, so the last item in the list, but just to make sure it's the right one:

- Open the device properties
- Click the Details tab
- In the drop down menu, select Hardware Ids
The one we want will say USB\VID_04F3&PID_000A on the second line

- Move to the Power Management tab
- Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

Please note I do not yet have numbers on the real impact to battery life this change will have.

That said, we're working to figure out the best way to address this, whether it's turning off power management on the device, or dramatically improving how quickly it's able to detect touch activity.
Fan is loud
There can be two issues:
1. Fan could be broken (bearing loud). This would be a grinding sound.
2. Fan could be rubbing on the metal housing inside the case (tick, tick, tick, tick sound.... somewhat common). You could RMA it, or open up the laptop and bend the housing to fix it yourself.
3. Fan spins up too loud too frequently.

Fan Fix for #3 ("fix" doesn't really work for most people, just slows the fan down. Still loud. Lenovo says they'll fix it in the next firmware update)

Windows 8 Install & Optimization Guide for SSDs [overclock.net] - created by localdeals

Any known solution for a missing mouse cursor? You're driver was most likely updated by either MS in one of its updates, or you upgraded beyond the one offered by Lenovo. Check that your Synaptics version ends with *.3. First, uninstall, the driver from the Device Manager, then reboot. Then, install the Lenovo *.3 version. Also, make sure you had not pressed F6 by accident, as that disables your touchpad.

In for one. This is a great deal. Don't think, just pull the trigger.
Hah I waited for like an hour and was totally indecisive. The counter of how many were left friggn sold me...could keep watching the numbers go down!

Best deal on a convertible/win8 tablet as of now.

Only better deal (for me) was the Envy X2 new for $425 ($599-$75 Staples coupon-$100 trade in for my 12 year old windows 98 laptop/paperweight). For 200 more...I will deal with the larger tablet and subpar battery life. Every laptop works great, even my X2, at first. But after a few months of space hogging/memory killing windows updates, etc., the X2 would probably start to slow down noticeably. The i5 will handle it better.

I think shopdiscover gives you 5% cash back (don't know if that is voided b/c of the coupon code MADNESS). Plus they extend the warranty & have a 90 day return policy (I haven't read the fine details for restrictions).

Anyone know of a good/cheap external disk drive for old school installs to the Yoga?

Special Conditions for Lenovo

Exclusions: Cash back is not available on Lenovo Outlet items

As far as I know, you may be able to get 1% CB from FW and that's about it as far as CB is concerned.
E****es didn't have any special conditions so I think the 3% will apply.

1 year warranty, IPS display, perfect for my upcoming vacation for photoshopping as well. Missed the zenbook deal but I think this is a better deal since you can upgrade the ram to 8gb as well.

Played with one in a store. Way too heavy and bulky. Not even even close to the notebook class we call Ultrabooks.

(fyi: the newest versions of the Zenbook were reported to have a single RAM SODIMM. you can put in 8gb)

It was showing as 3 left when I tried to order. Added to cart and said there was no stock available, but after refreshing for a couple of minutes I was able to snag one. Probably one of the last 3.

Worst case, if the wifi is a problem (fan is NOT a problem...played with one and didn't notice any issues as far as that) I will resell on CL. Easily can get what I paid for if not a decent amount more. And does have a full 1 year warranty. Its a nobrainer if you are in the market for this or something similar.

If you are talking about ep@tes , then that's pulled directly from the site, so you may want to read it again.

I just returned mine to Staples 2 days ago that I had for 2 weeks. I bought it for $925 plus their 2 year accidental damage warranty for $275. The total after tax was around $1250.

I was going to buy one from Costco for $999 plus $99 for a 3 year accidental damage warranty.

I didn't have any wifi issues, and the fan noise wasn't a problem at all for me. It was a great machine while I had it. I picked this one up for $680 after tax. It's a no-brainer for me. Just over half of the price I paid at Staples, but no extended warranty.

You have to change out the 4gb that this came with, and max is 8gb.
