Deal Details

I've gotten the "free pair" from Coastal, but I usually end up wanting ones that are excluded. Today all the designer frames are 50% off with code TODAY50. Basic lens are free and include coatings and etc. I put 5 different brands in my cart and all came up half off.

Edit: FYI, I had to add the Silver package for lenses ($30) in order to get the frames in the cart, but then I went back and edited to get the bronze free lenses.

I got the bronze package (the free one) with rimless lenses. They were the Durable Air Lenses (I'm not sure what the gold/silver packages have). My rxn is -3.5 and -2.25 and no astigmatism, etc. The lenses came in at the thickest point at about 3-4mm. Not sure if that's the sort of info you were looking for, but maybe it'll help.

nah not really. after you do all that stuff there is a choice between silver and gold packages, but the differences are not that obvious.

i got a pair of ray bans for $125 shipped

How do they compare to Costco's glasses in terms of price and quality? FYI, I need single vision glasses. I never shop with Coastal before. Thanks!

My Coastal pair is better than my Costco pairs. Way cheaper and same or better quality. No question.

I looked again and the only difference between the lens packages is thickness. If your rxn is around -3 or less, the free are fine.

My prescription is around -3.50.

Do they sell prescription sunglasses? Thanks!

Yes. Get a regular frame and select tinted sunglass lenses with your prescription at checkout.

Did I just miss this?

Also, what's the difference between the bronze/silver/gold packages? I can't seem to find info on it before the checkout page.

Yeah. The 50% off is over, but they're always running the First Pair Free (lots excluded though). The only difference in packages is the polycarbonate lens index (thickness). If I remember correctly here's the mm:

Bronze: 1.57
Silver: 1.61
Gold: 1.67

I could be slightly off, just going on memory from ordering last night. If your rxn is -3 or less, the bronze should be fine. I am -3.5 and they were fine. My husband is -9 and got the Gold and his were even thicker than mine. Somewhere online (try google) I found a website that calculated thickness based on lens index and prescription. That might help you.
